"I've recently been discovering that the Adventures of Tintin by Herge were a big influence on Wallace and Gromit. After which a Tintin/Gromit was pretty much inevitable. There are a number of striking parallels between the Tintin and Wallace and Gromit stories, the most obvious of which is the close and loyal friendship between Tintin and Captain Haddock, and between Wallace and Gromit. Both sets of friends went on an adventure to the Moon - Nick Park has said that Wallace and Gromit's rocket, as well as the techno-trousers in "The Wrong Trousers", were derived from the Tintin adventures "Destination Moon" and "Explorers on the Moon". But my favourite parallel so far is the fact that, at the end of "Explorers on the Moon", Tintin's friend Captain Haddock is lying unconscious on a stretcher, apparently dying, but is suddenly and miraculously revived by the mention of his favourite drink, whisky! This was beautifully echoed near the end of "Curse of the Were-Rabbit", where Gromit revives Wallace with a piece of cheese - his favourite food!  "
