Thanks Mm93, glad you like him! i haven't uploaded anything for a while, but have more models to upload soon. for all my models, i use the three tools i got from the W&G modelling kit- theyre really effective, especially for smoothing out small areas. the main body and hat are fimo clay, (hardened as otherwise it dissolves plastic), with a wire frame. the hands, head and boots are regular plasticine. for smaller details, i tend to just look around the house for suitable things to use: the buttons are pin heads pushed into the clay, then painted. the belt buckle is made from stuff called plasticard, which you can buy from most independant model shops. it's brilliant because you can cut it with scizzors, file it and paint it after! hope you found these tips useful! :D

Michael2007 Nov 20th 2007 3:37pm

oops, sorry i forgot!- the eyes are painted beads

plasjas Nov 20th 2007 3:37pm

Oh my god! that is incredible nice detail on the face and body

conty Nov 20th 2007 4:16pm

another excellent model michael, looks great:D

Modelmaker93 Nov 20th 2007 4:18pm

Thx Michael can u move the body around for anamating??

cavor Nov 20th 2007 4:40pm

This has got to be a winner!! superb job.|-)

Michael2007 Nov 20th 2007 4:48pm

Cheers everyone for all your comments, theyre great! unfortunately, i cannot move him to animate- i havent really made a stop motion film yet but i have a few ideas! definately something to consider as the films people have uploaded to this site are awesome! if you do make stop motion films, could you tell me what software you use please?

Modelmaker93 Nov 20th 2007 6:04pm

Ulead,Divx Powerplayer or you can use Windows Movie Maker i find Ulead 11 the best

The Quans Nov 20th 2007 11:40pm

great job! Was this particular Wallace from a kit too? I understood the tools were from a kit. If it wasn't from a kit, great eye for detail! 8)

Michael2007 Nov 21st 2007 3:12am

no, this one wasnt- i do have an airfix anti-pesto van which came with a wallace, but i havent got round to making him yet!

Thanks Mm93 for your tips

debeller Nov 21st 2007 4:12am

WOW! thats amazing!! 6/6

Modelmaker93 Nov 21st 2007 10:34am

how did you get the face to look exactly like him. I think you could make your own fimlms with your models and even work for Aardman, Oh yeah how long did it take to make the face??

cutiepopjade Nov 21st 2007 10:46am

look you didnt make it that is why it has a white background u got it of of the internet i saw it on it:O:O

Modelmaker93 Nov 21st 2007 12:06pm

shut up Cutiepopjade . you can tell she has made it and so what if it has a white background u can just stick some paper behind him

Michael2007 Nov 21st 2007 12:49pm

sorry cutiepopjade, but the white background is my wall, and he is standing on paper to hide my worksurface! :) as for the face, it's just practice really. this is one of several wallaces i've made (take a look at my other creation 'a grand day out' and you can see the changes i've made!). also, with this wallace, i tried a different way of making him which i feel works really well- before, i made him by making the shape of his head and then scraping out his mouth shape. this time, i used the way i saw on a W&G documentary, where i make the main head shape first, with a space where the mouth should be. then, i rolled a thin tube of clay and joined the ends to create the shape of his mouth. i joined this to the front of his face and smoothed the edges. finally, i used clay to fill in the back of his mouth and added the teeth :D

gromit1 Nov 21st 2007 1:26pm

Audrey2 Nov 22nd 2007 3:31pm

That is brilliant!!!!!
3857894406890/10 (that's the score you deserve):D
Oh, about your question, playdohmation is a good animating program but it is nearly impossible to get your hands on.

Michael2007 Nov 22nd 2007 4:31pm

thanks for your help Audrey2, much appreciated!
in answer to bigballbubblehead, ive been making models for years, since i was about 5- my nan used to buy me plasticine and i'd spend hours making small models, but ive only made proper figurines and characters for the last few years. my first real attempt was when i got free placticine to make gromit with the W&G comic some time ago. i also got the modelling kit for christmas and made my first wallace and hutch. then, my gromit was printed in the comic and i won another modelling kit, and from there it pretty much became my main hobby!

jecmen Nov 23rd 2007 12:28pm

Mr Owen n Hugh Dec 4th 2007 5:37pm

ooh i do like a bit of gorgen zola, tastes like feet, my favourite. your model good but not great, i mean i can see some areas of weakness you know like for example:
1. his right index finger is too small
2. his bottom teeth arn't right
3. the colour of the clothes is not right
4. the background is boaring
5. your yellow
6. you smell
7. i like poo:-(|)
8. you don't like poo
9. you don't have a proper beard
10. i do

but overall 6/6:D
i do know this person

Michael2007 Dec 7th 2007 6:45am

don't worry, i do know this person. he escaped from a mental hospital and lacks some serious brain power. He is a friend, but had a beard at the age of 11.

jeg15 Dec 7th 2007 6:47am

Mr owen and hugh - I have to agree with michael2007. You did have a beard at the age of 11. And yes you do lack some serious brain power.

Goats eh.

it's exactly the same as Aardman's work, it's a great job. Your modelling skill is marvellous , I am really impressed by yourt recent hutch and wallace model.
I wonder whether you will put up your artpiece on your personal website, so we can share your great job.

Michael2007 Jan 8th 2008 11:35am

your comments are fantastic, thanks! i don't have my own website at the moment but it's something i have been considering for a while now- i'll post the address if it happens!

taiswing Jan 19th 2008 5:36am

Thanks for your reply Michael, I am also a super fans of Wallace and Gromit. Actually, I would like to know whether you would like to make a piece for me as well. I would appreciate if you can consider it. And my modelling skill is really poor. I hope I can own an plasticine of W&G in my collection.

666joshy666 Jan 19th 2008 11:33am

plasticineaddict Mar 9th 2008 10:08pm

really great software is claymation studio. it has onionskin where it puts ur previous image over the image ur about to take so u move it just the perfect amount. it also has chroma key which allows u to put a background on top of the blue screen (it comes with the blue screen background.) it also allows you to speed up the pace of ur animation and add in voices with the audio setup. again it's called claymation studio you can find it on www.honest.com or on amazon.co.uk! Really hope u buy it. You like you'd be a great animator

plasticineaddict Mar 9th 2008 10:11pm

also are you in the UK. because i've heard of plasticine but i think they only sell it in the UK. and if you are from america please tell me where you picked that plasticine up from.

plasticineaddict Mar 15th 2008 1:58pm

sorry micheal there is no claymation studio on amazon.co.uk only on amazon.com the american version of amazon.co.uk.
