Chocachoc Posted: Jul 4th 2008

ok thankyou :)

Chocachoc Posted: Jul 4th 2008

I dont have enough modeling clay to make his legs long enough or his body fat enough, so im going to make him standing up. What modeling clay do you sudgest me buying because im going to get new clay. The 'tesco' one i have at the moment cracks all of the time and its hard to even move a head while animating at the moment. Thanks for helping cinders :D.

you really need to go to a craft shop and get newplast plastercine, just a tip but when contys making models he bulks out the body of his models (to save plastercine) with either tightly scrunched up tin foil or anything that will do, hes got some hard foam block at the moment that hes cutting bits off to use and ive seen him even cover an old tennis ball on one of his very large models, it also helps to lighten the weight of the models

dont ask for newclay!!! thats clay thats wet and drys, you need newplast plastercine, in 500g blocks theres 24 different colours for you to choose from, but you will need stone for gromit;)

cinders1 Posted: Jul 4th 2008

hey didnt see your picture, youve done great:) well done you!!!;)

Chocachoc Posted: Jul 4th 2008

I never said i wanted 'newclay'! I literally meant clay that is new :D. thanks for telling me the best make and the colour for gromit, i was thinking of getting newplast today but i wanted to see what you thought was best :).

when conty makes his models, does he keep them or does he destroy them (sorry if that sounds harsh but ive destroyed all of my models (my bunny and blue wallace) because of the tiny amounts i have bought from tesco.)

Thanks for helping me cinders :D

Chocachoc Posted: Jul 4th 2008

oh by the way,im going to use the gromit for animation. :)

cinders1 Posted: Jul 4th 2008

conty always keeps his models, mainly as its nice to look back on them and you can see yourself how you are improving with each model, but we always take lots of photos of them when they are first made as you know they dont keep very well and they soon get grubby

i got a glass cabinet from the charity shop to keep them on display, it does help to keep the dust off of them, but if you want to keep them really clean. conty wraps them in cling film;) oh and good luck with the animation:)

Chocachoc Posted: Jul 4th 2008

wow, thats nice :D. His models ive seen on this website are fantastic :D

cinders1 Posted: Jul 4th 2008

have you had a look at his deviantart account? hes got quite a nice gallery there, have a quick look, you will have to click on veiw gallery:) http://conty0.deviantart.com/

cinders1 Posted: Jul 4th 2008

im not sure if we should post pics of vincents work that we seen in the gallery or not, we were allowed to take pictures so im guessing its ok, but to be honest most of his work is in his gallery on deviant art ;) but there are some good aardman ones:)

jordan Posted: Jul 4th 2008

i was speeking to vincent on DA and i know he wouldnt mind seeing the pics of his work in the exhibition

cinders1 Posted: Jul 4th 2008

and more

Fanboi Posted: Jul 4th 2008

you only need to look on google images

Chocachoc Posted: Jul 4th 2008

Thanks. When i looked for gromit in google, i couldnt find any of him on all fours. Thanks a lot Fanboi.

Cinders, where does Conty buy his newplast? I went to the art shop near where i live and there were only the basic colours, not colours like dark brown, gromits fur or anything else like that. I bought a pack of all the colours though (1 strip of each) because i dont know what i want to make next.

So, where does conty get his? if you know, please could you send that shops website?

Thanks a lot, chocachoc
