Ursrut Posted: Aug 22nd 2008

Hey
I'm online. I think many people are either on holiday or enjoying what's left of the holidays. School for me in two weeks.

Josephine Posted: Aug 22nd 2008

Never fear! Sockeye is here...for the next month or so before I recharge my batteries, Fish, my buddy! How was your vacation? :D

How's Ralphie the Wonderdog!? Meg sends cyber doggie kiss and two paws for a cyber biccie!

Fish Posted: Aug 23rd 2008

Josephine! :D Ursrut! :D Thanks for letting me know you are around!

Ralphie the Wonder Dog sends a big thank you to Meg for the cyber kiss!

I didn't know Sockeye Salmon ran on batteries! :O

Ralphie is in great shape these days - no more breathing problems! We have also inherited a guinea pig from some VERY close relatives who have moved 1200 miles away to go to graduate school. So now we have two pets.

What have you been doing these days, Sockeye? Ursrut?

Ursrut Posted: Aug 23rd 2008

Sockeye your back!
Glad to hear ralphie is healthy.
Swimming and going for day trips to places and trying to enjoy what we have of summer.

squigly Posted: Aug 23rd 2008

Hi everyone! Haven't been on in awhile...since the day after W&G.com's and Harry's birthdays? Actually, just been popping in and reading posts but not posting any messages of my own. I see a lot of interesting creations. You're right, conty. MTS said his CGI course was in August. Hope he learns some techniques to help him with FrogBlast. Enjoy the rest of your summer Ursut!

Ursrut Posted: Aug 24th 2008

Thanks squigly, you too.

gromitlove Posted: Aug 25th 2008
:-(|)

Hello Fish and Josephine and squigly and conty and Ursrut, it's nice to see everyone reuniting on this thread. Josephine I listened for you in the crowds in the abbey of Mont St. Michel and atop the cathedral of Chartres, but didn't hear anyone saying "yiptahootie!"
I hope everyone has had a fun summer!:-(|)

Fish Posted: Aug 26th 2008

Hi, gromitlove!:D I'm glad to read you again! Did you have a fun summer?

squigly Posted: Aug 26th 2008

gromitlove! I was just thinking yesterday that I haven't seen you around here in awhile. You've been traveling I see. In France? I believe Sockeye doesn't head on over there until next month. You missed her Yiptahootie call by a few weeks! Welcome back!

Rebel Posted: Aug 26th 2008

Hi its me JB1

wallaceandcheese Posted: Aug 26th 2008

hi

Josephine Posted: Aug 26th 2008

WHOOOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOO!!!

Josephine Posted: Aug 26th 2008

Fish, old friend! Meg lifts a paw...then the other paw... and send you and Ralphie a soppy kiss! How's the new tenant i.e. the Guinea Pig? Does he/she have a name?

Ursrut, gromitlove, squigly and conty! Lovely for us to regroup round the water for a good swim!

About batteries... the rate things have been going during the summer, it'll be a case of NEW batteries rather than rechargeable ones because I'll be hitting the ground running upon my return.

gromitlove, I don't think my friend and I will be passing by or through either Mont Saint Michel or Chartres - it'll be great if we could because I've always wanted to go to Mont Saint Michel and Chartres Cathedral - maybe next time.

It's mountainous where I'll be going i.e. The Pyrennees - I'll YIPTAHOOOOOOOTTTTTIIIEEEEE from the highest peak through a loud hailer!

Yours
Sock Eye Salmon

Fish Posted: Aug 26th 2008

A mountain climbing Sock Eye Salmon???? :O I suspect you might need more than one set of new batteries.

I've always wanted to visit both those cathedrals, too - particularly Chartres, which has an ancient labyrinth I believe. 8)

The Guinea Pig is named "Little Shatner". There is a long story behind this name, but suffice it to say for now that my very close relative named him that because his head is shaped rather like that of the actor William Shatner of Star Trek fame. Shatner is getting used to us and no longer runs and hides when we come to visit with him. He lets us pet him, too - a big step. |-)

gromitlove Posted: Aug 27th 2008

I didn't know about the labyrinth. We climbed up one of the spires, and the top is QUITE scary, because a lighter, thinner stone was used 800 years ago (must have been a terrible job to carry it up) and has worn through in places, and the wind gets suddenly strong. Apparently years ago it was necessary to live in the tower, to ring the enormous bells on time, and to keep watch for fire or invaders.
There was an exhibit of photos of the roof and steeple being restored by absolute daredevils.

Ah Fish, I do suspect that your very close relative has cleaned up the story of how your guinea pig got his name. But no matter, seeing as your household has gained a welcome member and William Shatner, a namesake.:)

PoisonIvy Posted: Aug 27th 2008

Well there's a tree-climbing perch, and mudskippers can climb palm trees.
We have five guinea-pigs called Lily, Hermione, Sugar Bee, Minerva and Molly.

Yeeah!

Fish Posted: Aug 27th 2008

So a mountain climbing sock eye salmon is not so far fetched, given the climbing abilities of other fish - interesting! :O

Gromitlove - I doubt my very close relative would have felt a need to clean up the story of Shatner's naming. The only thing needing cleaning up so far has been his cage.

PoisonIvy Posted: Aug 27th 2008

lol!!
real funny
no seriously it is!!!!

squigly Posted: Aug 27th 2008

I had a guinea pig awhile ago. I named her Miss Piggy. She whistled a lot, especially when she heard my bedroom door open. She was short-haired and almost a soft peach color. I mated her with a long-haired fellow with cowlicks all over. The baby guinea pigs were soooooo cute.

Ursrut Posted: Aug 27th 2008

I wish i had a pet. A westie in particular though, but my mums allergic.

DancingShauny99 Posted: Aug 27th 2008

I am here!

gromitlove Posted: Aug 27th 2008

No offense intended, dear Fish!

Mark the shark Posted: Aug 27th 2008

I AM HERE!!! I'M READY TO SWIM!!!

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS-
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS-
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :D

Mark the shark Posted: Aug 27th 2008

Poor you, Ursrut. That's like 3rd Musketeer. :-(

Fish Posted: Aug 29th 2008

Ursrut, is your mum allergic just to dogs or is she allergic to lots of things? If she is allergic to only a few things, she might be fine with another kind of animal. For example, we have 3 family members who are allergic to cats, which is why we don't have one. But everyone does fine with dogs. The guinea pig does trigger some allergic reaction in one family member, but since Little Shatner stay in one room mostly, it is not a problem if we keep the cage clean.

Gromitlove - no offense taken! :D If you knew the very close relative in question...well...this person never cleans ANYTHING up for me - including her room! :D

Ursrut Posted: Aug 29th 2008

She allergic to the hair on animals so anything with long hair is a problem, so that's why we can't have a westie. she has a really bad reaction. Short hair should be alright.

Fish Posted: Aug 29th 2008

Oh! Well...have you asked her about a short haired dog - like a beagle, for example? I think Gromit might be a beagle...:D

Ursrut Posted: Aug 29th 2008

yeah. theres other problems like landlords but we might ask and go to a rescue home. I am willing to go home at lunch to look after the dog when it's going to be left alone on school days.

Fish Posted: Aug 31st 2008

I hope your mum lets you get a short haired dog, Ursrut! They are such good friends - and great company!|-)

Ursrut Posted: Aug 31st 2008

Thanks
I'm working on it at the moment. Start off big and work my way down. The Great Dane seems a good place to start. ;)
