i think that the prize is a bit stupid. A how to make a morph' kit and a keyring:-(. The certificate is ok but that's it. you should get a huge set of plastercine and an animation kit.

Thanx for reading please reply...;)

i'm just speechless to be honest.
A prize doesn't matter to me nor does the winning it's the taking part that matters * put's done the fourtune cookie* ;) .
Also to some people who aren't able to buy that sort of things and win that it's great. Yes that sort of thing would be good for some people. ( the thing you suggested)

xIzzyx Posted: Oct 12th 2008

a good prize would be somthing that you couldnt get anywhere else......

yes but the people that cant buy something like that would be more impressed with something they are less likely to have.

iantimothy Posted: Oct 12th 2008

i got runner up in july and all i got a was a mug and a certificate. but those are like my 2 most prized possesions, i doesn't matter what you win, its just the comments and the rating, and just the fact that you win is what makes it great!

Chocachoc Posted: Oct 12th 2008

I agree iantimothy I love my mug and certificate that I got too.

I think the reason why Aardman don't give out bigger, more expensive prizes is because there aren't that many people that enter compared to other competitions. Like, they couldn't give out £30 pounds worth of stuff to several people every month because that would cost them a lot. I think its nice that they run these competitions at all. Its just a bit of fun after all.

Have a nice week peter :)

yeh i guess but it couldn't hurt to spend not more than £10 more on the prize and maybe give 2 not 3 runner up trophies so they don't loose money

Have a nice week lizzie:)

Chocachoc Posted: Oct 12th 2008

I think its nice to have 3 runners up. I found it lovely to be a runner up.

but then the prizes for being runner up or 1st place would be better!!!

jills Posted: Oct 12th 2008

Chocachoc's right it's nice to have such a great competition month after month at all, especially with 4 winners each time. Personally I think that if the prizes were bigger there would be people entering just to win them instead of to show off their creations.

yeh but wouldn't you rather win a prize that you want than a prize that they want to give you

Chocachoc Posted: Oct 12th 2008

That's a good point jills. People would be waay too competitive and maybe not like each other like the wallace and gromit forum people like each other. They would all see each others as competitors.

That kind of community wouldn't be that nice.

jills Posted: Oct 12th 2008

I can see your point, peter tmwc. We'll just have to differ on this one point because I think the prizes are cool. And like you said, the certificates are really great!

Yeah, Chocachoc, it might not be as friendly otherwise.

iantimothy Posted: Oct 12th 2008

i love my certificate!

squigly Posted: Oct 12th 2008

well, either the contest participants don't care what the prize is or they like the prizes being offered because there are loads more contestants every month.

i also think they should keep it at 4 (or more) winners because there are so many different styles of art being entered (video, drawing, models, cakes, knitting etc.) and so many good entries of all levels that it is very difficult for Aardman staff to narrow down the choices to just 3.

i agree with jills, ptmwc, that you have a valid point but i don't think that's what Aardman's intentions were when they decided to host the contest. makes for a good discussion however.

animation boy Posted: Oct 13th 2008

if the prize was, say, £100- you'd get loads of people cheating, submitting creations they didnt make/parents made. It would all go corrupt. I think the prize is fine anyway.

Harry Posted: Oct 13th 2008

By the way this it not nice to Aardman as it is the thought counting and the Morph kit does cost £10 and has a Dvd with Morph episodes and how to make morph, it has props like a Skateboard, Comic, Hat, Cricket bat and a beard and the plasticine to make Morph and there giving a Keyring to go with it so think of it that way and try to be a little more kind to the people at Aardman.

Ursrut Posted: Oct 13th 2008

i think that is true harry!

i guess but once in a wile maybe once a year before christmas they could give a expensive prize away and to more people but the rest of the year it's the same.
Or we could all put a pot together once a year and give a prize from us instead of from aardman and if they give a cake we could give a cooking book of in its a video some editing software so if everyone gives even 10p then we should get about £200 (if there are 2000 people)

plasjas Posted: Oct 13th 2008

Also the morph kit is pretty rare so if you win it it is cool i wish i could get the morph kit cause the props look good

you can buy it for about £15 there not that rare

plasjas Posted: Oct 13th 2008

where abouts though

plasjas Posted: Oct 13th 2008

oh last time i checked amazon they didn't have it...thanks ptmwc

hI!

hello

DancingShauny99 Posted: Oct 13th 2008

how are you

Seb Moderator Posted: Oct 14th 2008

Be fair - Aardman can't afford to give out amazing prizes to everyone all the time can they?! The fact you get it from Aardman makes it more special than anything you can buy anyway.

plasjas Posted: Oct 14th 2008

yeah

conty Posted: Oct 14th 2008

the signed certificate with nick parks comments about my work is what meant the world to me, and the fact that my work was choosen over everyone elses amazing work as the winner was prize enough. :)

Chocachoc Posted: Oct 14th 2008

conty Posted: Oct 15th 2008

Chocachoc Posted: Oct 17th 2008

Ah, I thought that would be it because I don't know any other Connors that have the nickname 'conty'.

Did you show nick your models at the signing?

conty Posted: Oct 18th 2008

yep;)
not too many call me conty. at school my teachers have started calling me farrie, i think my pe teachers got plans to print it on the back of my pe kit!!

Ursrut Posted: Oct 18th 2008

When i first read that i thought it said Fairy! You get those jackets with your nicknames or name on the back don't you?

P.s What about conifer ( isn't that what you where called after that science lesson when we were doing about plants.)

Chocachoc Posted: Oct 18th 2008
