Yep, new title. Mainly because I am not basing the film just on White's novel, my film will be based on the old Arthurian legends, but most content of T.H White's book can from the traditional legends, so it will still include the Sword in the Stone, most characters- Arthur, Kay, Merlin, Sir Ector, Merlin's owl , Galehoot (I had to make up new name) So its the same material, I'm just going to branch off more, had my own stuff and make up more things up.

Ok, I've been working hard of the networking side of the film, so now I have some other animators/sculpters working on it too.

Arthur- whole puppet being made by John Hankins

Merlin's robes- being made by Emily Baxter

Galehoot (Merlin's owl)- being made by Jenny Kuri

Music- Brett McCoy

Voice actors- Soon to be found

So, its a great start, new title and we can let the old thread blunder into cyber oblivion ;)

Great update Nobfy! i like the new title.

Nofby Posted: Oct 12th 2008

Yeah, me too. Now its more of an original film, and I don't have to go through the copyright process of paying up to the T.H White society and Disney. But, the plot hasn't really changed. Here it is (my one)...

The story begins with Sir Ector, determined to find a tutor for his son Kay. One day, while chasing after Cully(one of his father’s hunting falcons) with Kay, Arthur becomes lost and stumbles upon the cottage of Merlyn, a magician, in the middle of the forest. Merlyn shows Arthur around the cottage, which is, to say the least, in wild disarray. Merlyn lives his life from the future to past, going backwards in real-time, so he is expecting Arthur. He shows Arthur the way back to the castle, and from there on, with a little skepticism on the part of all concerned, is asked to become tutor to Kay, but Kay refuses and Sir Ector tells Arthur he is Merlin's new apprentice/student.

Merlin teaches the boys many ways and wonders of life, performing magic and teaching Arthur how to cast spells. Kay, still with no tutor is more interested in knighthood, but that pleases his father and leaves for jousting and tournaments.

Finally, while preparing for Kay’s knighthood, the news is spread that King Uther Pendragon, ruler of England, has died. There is word that there is a sword stuck fast through an anvil on a stone in London, which has the inscription, "Whoso Pulleth Out the Sword of the Stone and Anvil, is Rightwise King Born of All England."

This news is especially important to the people because there is no heir to the throne. Kay also has a jousting tournament outside the square, and begs his father, Sir Ector to let him depart. Sir Ector agrees, but before they leave, Arthur becomes very upset because Merlyn and Galehoot (Merlin's pet owl) are leaving.

When they arrive in London for the jousting tournament, Kay announces to his father that someone has stolen his sword. His father becomes enraged and summons Arthur to try and find another one.

Quite unintentionally, Arthur comes across the sword, stuck in a stone, and, not realizing it is the sword, tries desperately to pull it out. He is finally able to pull the sword out by mustering all of the strength, knowledge, and maturity which Merlin has helped him to realize. A peasant brushing the path nearby sees Arthur holding the gleaming sword aloft and shouts to the crowds...

"He's pulled the sword from the stone! It cannot be! He is the new King of England!"

All bow in acknowledgement and submission to their new monarch.

I now have interested voice-actors

cinders1 Posted: Oct 14th 2008

aahhh im glad to see you changed your mind and are staying here. your film sounds great nofby and to have some voice actors involved too can only add to the professionalism of your film, anyone we might know?

Nofby Posted: Oct 14th 2008

Great, Nofby! Any hints of voiceovers, Nofby? ;)

burritobabe Posted: Oct 17th 2008

hmm.. nofby said that he woudn't be coming on the site as much to work on his film, yet he still writes comments and posts everyday... wierd

Nofby Posted: Oct 17th 2008

I only come on if I see something worth commenting on. I didn't say I was abandoning the forum, theres some great people here.

Also, I have NOT started any script or storyboarding yet, so when I get to that stage in a few weeks or so, that will limit my time on the net.

Certainly, when I actually get into making the sets, props and puppets, I may not have time to chat here.

When I get to shooting, then I won't be able to come on at all.

So, since I am only at the talking/networking stage, I can spare time to talk to you guys.

So, thanks but no thanks, I have a reason for announcing that I won't be able to visit as much.

I can speak for myself, if you have some nagging problem about the fact I'm making use of the time I have right now, to talk to people here, email me and relieve yourself

Ursrut Posted: Oct 17th 2008

Nofby Posted: 1 hour 36 mins ago

Another little update apart from the little ones that I don't need to bore you with involving voice samples from the actors and other stuff. I'm not revealing much on this film, but for now heres some eye candy...

Chocachoc Posted: 1 hour 35 mins ago

Wow. What did you make those from?

Nofby Posted: 1 hour 34 mins ago

Another (The props in these photos are for Merlin's cottage, click to enlarge!) They were made by one of the people making books for the set, called Nick Hilligoss and now he has finished them all. He has also made the sword to go in the stone which is the one with the balls on the end and another sword)

Chocachoc Posted: 1 hour 32 mins ago

Superb

Nofby Posted: 1 hour 31 mins ago

Yea, I have a few book-binders making books for the cottage set as there is alot! Going over 100!

I've got to make alot of props for the interior of Merlin's cottage, its cluttered with books, old ornaments, artefacts, stuffed birds, you name it.

I'm talking about the amount of books in the scene in CP... (Hundreds!) See pic

In White's book, heres a quote...

" There were hundreds of thousands of brown books in leather bindings"

Nofby Posted: 1 hour 12 mins ago

This is a reference I found for making Merlin's robes from a figure sculpter.
