That must ave taken ages to do that, with the little movements. I would love to work at Aardman too! ![]()
why cant i upload into the competition?
model maker 93 your movies alright, but room for improvement. have a look at mine, and im only 13
TIPS:if your short of one colour of clay, roll it between your hands ,and mix two primary colours together, say green and blue to make dark green you can do this when you want to experryment![]()
hi eddie, to upload your movie to our competition you will need to add it to YouTube first (its fairly quick and easy to create an account) Once you have done this go to our video entry page and enter the URL of your YouTube video. Hope that helps ![]()
i cant put mi advert 4 mi new film
It has always been my dreem since i had seen the first movie of wallace&Gromit
hi modelma
ker93 you show was the best iv ever seen in a long time hint you should make some improved models like w&g![]()
hey. yeah i agree with eddie. i'm 13 to ha ha, check out my videos on youtube. http://youtube.com/watch?v=C3NBQzgSXVI this is probably my best animation, i will be doing more later on though. please take a look![]()
A few days ago I didn't have any intention of modelling. I have a few creation ideas that I'm working on, though, and I went to the craft shop for supplies today, and saw that plasticine was half price. That, plus all the models made by cool people here on the forum have inspired me to try it out. Can't wait to get started! I expect a little disappointment at first, but still, it must be fun. ![]()

modelmaker93 your film does work it was good but needed to be a bit longer ![]()
I like your movie, Modelmaker93! ![]()
I'm sorry I don't have any tips, I'm a beginner. I made my first Gromit yesterday. I liked it a lot, so I'm going to try to make other things. I know this is a simple question, but how tall should I make W&G and the others? Just do it by sight? I'm not ready for the Creations page, but I'm including a pic so you can see what I did so far. I needed a ring holder, so I had Gromit balance them in different actions (sorry I don't know the lingo). I need to mix the colour better and make the lighting the same. Here's one scene:
Wow that's a brilliant start, jills! I think this is ready for the competition, but I look forward to seeing what you make next! ![]()
Did you make any other shorts, Modelmaker93? How long did it take you to do True Love?
(Thank you, katie, that's nice of you) ![]()
great job jill, why dont you enter it? its fab for a first model, conor
your question jills about how tall to do your models, i dont think it really matters, my last model was 10 inches (growbag) but i am trying to make them about the same size as aardman, i think if it looks good to the eye is more important, conor
Thanks for the tip, Conty. Mr. Growbag was awesome; I had no idea he was that tall! ![]()
I am trying to do a better Gromit because I realized that I only gave him three fingers on his front paws.. how silly ![]()
im still here to help ![]()
your vids are nice just try making like a set or something cos doing it in front of a keyboard is a bit bland lol. i just got bit of blue card and stuck it in a corner on a wall and did it there lol it works just as well
take a look at what i mean in one of my vids(hint hint:wink![]()
Bbbh, that's very cool ![]()

i want to be a model maker at aardman to![]()
if ur using plasticine for ur models a good tip to get them smooth is to use white spirit, this sort of melts the plasticine a little and makes it loads easier to get a really top notch finish. hope thats of help to people, i no it helps me loads.
also a really good thing to have is a rubber tipped paint brush, this kind of doubles as ur finger wen smoothing, but can get into places ur finger cannot.u can usually buy these in any good craft shop that sells specialist painting products.![]()
hi this was ages a go my animations and models are way smoother and realistic now![]()
It's been nearly a year since my first Gromit model ![]()
M93, it's interesting to look back on stuff we've made and see how we've progressed, isn't it? It's very cool that you've been sticking with this and making better and better models. I haven't put anything in the competition in ages but I have more time right now and I'm working on something fun for it. I'm going to try lmlm6819's way of doing the model in one colour then painting it, as it's not going to have a normal finish.
HI I'm a teacher and i'm teaching clay modelling this term. I thought it would be nice to show a short video to the children about how wallace and gromit was made. Does anyone know of any videos like this? Thanks.
hi , the curse of the were rabbit dvd has excellent behind the scenes video witha good running time, & also A video Tutorial on how to make a bunny from the film
I agree with Jordan, those would be good choices. I also think there may have been some behind the scenes info on the Wrong Trousers vhs-- I'll have a look and get back to you.
Hi guys i think that when you make a model you should make each part to the best of your ability cause if you take time and effort it will look good. Jills your first model is actually really good the first model i made was rubbish ill see if i can find it
Louthomas81, these are the special features on the most recent edition dvd of Three Amazing Adventures:
*The Amazing Adventures of Wallace and Gromit
Narrated documentary-style. There are bits where Nick Park is interviewed and talks about early sketches of Wallace & Gromit, their development while at film school, working at Aardman, making films, international interest and a lot more
*Inside the Wrong Trousers- Nick Park and Steve Box give behind the scenes information and there is a bit where Nick demonstrates animating on set
*A Close Shave, How it was done- digital effects that are added in due to the nature of stopmotion animation
If you want something that deals more specifically with modelmaking and animating, I believe there is a rather good extra on the Creature Comforts dvds that also shows how sets and props are made. This one would demonstrate the craft itself better although it doesn't directly involve
