Wallace and Gromit are moving to a new home after creators Aardman Animation were given the go-ahead to build a £10 million headquarters.

The Oscar-winning studio will move to a three-storey complex next to its current dockside base in Bristol after the plans were approved by the city council.

It will almost double the number of staff currently working at the site from 110 to 200, as nearly all the company's employees are relocated to the new expanded development.
The news came just days after Aardman announced a lucrative film deal with Sony Pictures - rounding off a great week for the firm.

Aardman co-founder David Sproxton said it was an exciting time in the company's history.
"All this news comes through in a rush like waiting for a London red bus," he said.
"We've been working on the feature deal for about a year, and the planning for the building has gone on for even longer. Everything seems to be going very well. The Sony deal is huge and the creative support it will bring is great. And the building will mean everyone can be together at last and out of the Portakabins."

The building will boast its own "mini cinema" and could feature four wind turbines on the roof - providing up to 25 per cent of the site's energy needs.

Building work on the site is expected to begin next this space for photos and updates!

Oh, I see so your going up in the world, eh Wallace?

Chedarette Posted: Sep 17th 2007

What do you think about it?

conty Posted: Sep 23rd 2007

Are you going to think about apprenticeships in two years? conors mum

shaunisgr8 Posted: Sep 28th 2007

Excellent! Especially for the four wind turbines that will provide a quarter of all energy needed. Will people be able to visit the new headquarters when it's finished?

q_here Posted: Oct 3rd 2007

I would love to visit the studios when they are finished. Fans help pay for the films you make, so I would encourage small tours (like the BBC TV studios does).:)

sallyf Posted: Oct 3rd 2007

Does this state-of-the-art studio mean "Trouble at mill" will be sooner? Not sure we can all wait till the end of 2008 !!!

sianybuba Posted: Oct 3rd 2007

lauriebooth Posted: Oct 25th 2007

jordan Posted: Feb 19th 2008

oh dear

Concrete frame manufacturer Febrey Ltd has collapsed, leaving numerous projects in the south-west of England searching for alternative suppliers.

Schemes which will now be looking to replace Febrey include Gleeds’ £8 million film facility in Bristol being built for Aardman Animation, responsible for movie hits Chicken Run and the Oscar-winning Wallace and Gromit.

hope it gets sorted soon

Mark the shark Posted: Feb 19th 2008

VincentAnimations01 Posted: Jan 10th 2009

I went in like 2007 I went into the foyer area and saw some models!

thetopbun Posted: Jan 11th 2009

I saw it as I drove past it when it was being built! My dad said I couldn't go inside :( We saw the Aardman sign on it and I saw the woman from TCOTWR when she showed you how to make a bunny!

VincentAnimations01 Posted: Jan 11th 2009

When was that?

thetopbun Posted: Jan 11th 2009

About... 3 months ago why?

katie Aardman Staff Posted: Jan 12th 2009

We're moving in on the 31st of Jan so I'll be able to let you know what it's like. I'll see if I can take some pictures too :)

In fact, there's already a few been taken:

thetopbun Posted: Jan 12th 2009

Cool! Can't wait Katie! Can you give me a pass! Maybe I can go in it on work experience?! Save me a place! I wrote you a letter... well not you Aardman and you sent one back!:D

katie Aardman Staff Posted: Feb 9th 2009

Yep, we've been in for a couple of weeks now but people are still moving in so there hasn't been an official opening yet. It's looking good though :D

thetopbun Posted: Feb 9th 2009

Wooh! Yay! Glad to here it Katie! You haven't literally 'moved' you have just gone in not moved to say I don't know... London...

FleaCircusDirector Posted: Feb 9th 2009

What are the key benefits of the new offices? Is it just about space or are there other handy features?

Purple&Brown Posted: Feb 10th 2009

Has there address from the websites changed ? ( so I can post a letter to them )

thetopbun Posted: Feb 10th 2009

No the address hasn't been changed cos the new building is right next to the old one...:D

katie Aardman Staff Posted: Feb 11th 2009

@FleaCircusDirector -There's a lot more space, fancier facilities including canteen rooftop terrace and cinema (!) and it means most people are together in 1 building rather than dotted around Bristol.

@Purple&Brown - address is still the same as before :)

purple and brown Posted: Feb 11th 2009

so the adress is still Aardman Animations
Gasferry Road
BS1 6UN :D

Purple&Brown Posted: Feb 11th 2009

thanks katie:D Lucky you :) You can watch all the finished films then;)

thetopbun Posted: Feb 11th 2009
