I really need some help on how to animate mouths: whether there really big lips or just a normal mouth with teeth!

Well one way to do it is to make several different mouths to fit onto one head. They use this technique for Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. So what I would do, is take pictures of yourself forming different vowel sounds. Then with the plasticine create them and then when you make your character talk, switch the different peices out and in for the look of mouth movement. It's a Great technique! (They also use this in Coraline(Another Claymation film))

.... Here's a picture of the Coraline mouths (Mind you they did the whole mouth and the cheek bones... In my opinion I would just create the lips but.. whatever you choose)

Obviously you need the main sounds and when you do it go from one to the other because when you see someone talking you don't see there mouth move slowly. Don't repeat sounds like m and b because your lips use the same position. Also the final tip is that every shape should try to last for at least 2 frames even though it my say on the sound sheet it lasts one make it 2 and then deduct it from the next so it goes from 1 frame to 2 frames and the sound after has 3 frames to 2 frames so it all fits in. Every detail of sound is delicate and needs to be taken care of. Hope I helped
