Hello, fellow sock lovers!!!! Fish!!! A star!!!!! :-X Another for my favourites list - joyofsocks.com !!!!!
Sock heaven! Your collection is mighty impressive, too!

I have "fleeced" lined socks ... but one of the pair is missing!!!!! Waaaaaahhh!

I'll find it! &

squigly Posted: Jan 16th 2008

Josephine, maybe Shaun or one of his wooly friends shaved a little too close (A Close Shave...get it?) and needed to borrow your missing "fleeced" lined sock to patch up a bald spot...kind of like a toupee for sheep! Can you picture a sheep walking around with a sock on his head?
>:-)

I really could use that "fleeced" lined sock. It was 67 degrees this morn and stayed chilly throughout the day!

Josephine Posted: Jan 16th 2008

Yes, a sheep with a sock on his head! A tupee for sheep!

squigly - It's terrific! Thank you for making me laugh out loud |-) I wish I could photograph those mental images :D

I think you are right about Shaun's wooly friends shaving too close - there has been a shortage of razors in the bathroom and lots of wooly-bits clogging up the plughole...thanks to you, now I know why!

If they come back to me and own up, I'll forgive them.

But they must not forget to ask me in future! 0:)

Pink socks today with a fair isle pattern. Like you, squigly, my feet were very cold. I suffer from cold feet anyway but having bright, mad socks keep them toasty every day

terminator987 Posted: Jan 16th 2008

no it's not

Mark the shark Posted: Jan 16th 2008

Hehehee!;)

Josephine Posted: Jan 16th 2008

A Song about SOCKS - (to the tune of a song by Brendan Shine originally called Spuds - it doesn't matter if you don't have a clue to whom I am on about but enjoy it anyway)

I thank you!

Socks, Socks, Socks!
Yeah, socks are really great!
Good old wooly socks
are on everybody's plate *

(cockney rhyming slang - plates of meat = feet)

There are boot socks and some bed socks
Mad socks are a treat!
But the & ones
are the best ones for your feet!

Dink-a-dink-dink-dink-dink-drrriiiiikkk-a-dink-dink-dink-dink!

Fish Posted: Jan 16th 2008

My grandfather talked in cockney rhyming slang...I never could catch on very well.

But the song is COOL! Thanks for posting it!

Josephine Posted: Jan 16th 2008

Fish - you are very welcome! And you are very kind!

Cockney rhyming slang is a little difficult to understand, sometimes. Even in Stockport! ;)

conty Posted: Jan 16th 2008

josephine you crack me up!!!!! your good fun, good on ya girl;)

Josephine Posted: Jan 16th 2008

conty, you are great fun, too! I'm glad I can brighten up your day!

You have just reminded me... (it is easy to get side-tracked on the forum because of so many really interesting things going on!)

I forgot to talk to you about drums! I play an Irish drum (it's shaped like a tambourine without the tambours - little cymbals - and it's played with a stick called a beater. The name begins with 'B' but it won't pass the anti-swearing filter on the forum - p'raps because it's name is foreign/Irish).

Any road-up! How do the neighbours cope when you are practising your drum skills?

conty! There is no end to your talents!

conty Posted: Jan 16th 2008

josephine luckily we are detached so i dont bother anyone but my family, thats why i got an electric drum kit as i can plug in headphones if i get on their nerves, but i cant remember using them yet, so i cant make too much of a racket!!! the drum your talking about a friend of ours plays it in a irish band, they look fun to play, he loves playing it but his wifes not so keen;):)

Josephine Posted: Jan 16th 2008

They are indeed great fun, conty! I love giving it some serious welly whenever I'm in the company of Irish musicians - on the odd occasion, I might add.

Somehow, I imagined you having a real Phil Collins jobbie drum kit. An electric one is sufficient in your circumstances - or indeed anybodys... unless you live in a remote homestead!

Your friend - does he play for fun or for the odd penny?

Why does your friend's missus not like the Irish drum? What is there not to like about it? :O Very little, but there are a few reasons for this humble instrument having the unfortunate knack of doing one's head in.

I think it is important to recognise the RIGHT moment when to play it and enough tact to avoid saturating a session with Irish drum overload (some people do it, you know, and you feel like giving them a custard pie in the kisser!).

This is where SOCKS can help. You can tell the offending, tactless person to put a sock in it! ;)

Fish Posted: Jan 16th 2008

I always wanted to play the drum, and once I got to play a really easy drum part for a concert. But I've ended up playing flute instead....much quieter, I guess. But even the flute can get on people's nerves. :O0:)

conty Posted: Jan 17th 2008

josephine, i think shes already tried the sock in it business!!! he only started playing in the last year so i guess the practicing while shes in the same room watching tv doesnt help relations:O

my drum kit you cant buy in a shop, it was hand made for me by a guy who makes them for proffessionals, its not the kind of kit that i think your thinking of, not that it matters i guess they are all a racket if not played well;)

squigly Posted: Jan 17th 2008

Josephine, I'm not familiar with that tune for your Sock Song but I did up a couple more verses which I think might work well.

Socks for the sheep
Keeps the hoofies warm
But they're no help at all
When his wool is shorn

McGraw has socks
To wear in any weather
The pair he wears most often
Has a pistol and a feather

dinky dinky dock, stinky stinky sock...a dinkity dinkity dink!

:D

squigly Posted: Jan 17th 2008

Conty, I like your new avatar. Looks like he's saying "put a sock in it!"
:)

conty Posted: Jan 17th 2008

squigly i know hes a grumpy ole character!!!!, and hey you get some great weather where you are, you lucky thing!!! what country do you live in:)

Josephine Posted: Jan 17th 2008

squigly-pops! Your verses are AWESOME!!!!! They do go with the tune in question, as I have just sung it to myself. Well done!!!! Keep 'em coming! SOCKS ROCKS!!!!

conty - oh, dear! Playing the said Irish drum whilst the goggle-box is on is not good. I remember someone saying that the toilet is a good place to practise guitar etc. because the accoustics are quite impressive - not exactly the Albert Hall and not much of an audience (except the odd spider or woodlouse).

Fish - flutes are good! I met the great flute meister, Sir James Galway, some years ago. His brother, George, taught the flute at my old school. Sir James is not only a passionate musician but he loves cartoons, too! Keep practising the flute, Fish. Keep it warm with socks (flutes don't work too well in the cold) and, if you or conty need an extra few quid, you could busk on the streets! I bet you'd be a fab duo!

Mark the shark Posted: Jan 17th 2008

GREAT ONE JOSEPHINE! You make this web crack with humour until we're all on the floor! And Conty, I like your avatar too! But hey, maybe Katie will edit your message because you asked someone personal details. But maybe not?:D

cinders1 Posted: Jan 17th 2008

mark, hardly personal asking what country you live in!!! i dont think anyone will mind that;)

Mark the shark Posted: Jan 17th 2008

Yes, suppose so. Just thought I'd let him know.;)

conty Posted: Jan 17th 2008

Mark the shark Posted: Jan 17th 2008

Yeah, suppose so. Hiya! We're on at the same time!:D

conty Posted: Jan 17th 2008

Mark the shark Posted: Jan 17th 2008

No, soz, I'm about to go to the creations. I've actually been on every day (I think). Yes, the script of the film has been in the works this week.;)

Fish Posted: Jan 18th 2008

You met Sir James Galway??!!:O WOW! I had a CD of his, but it got broken.:'(

Fish Posted: Jan 18th 2008

Yes, I guess we are allowed to keep talking about socks because Josephine started with W&G socks. And W&G socs are very VERY cool...er....WARM!:) So are Shaun the Sheep socks!|-)

terminator987 Posted: Jan 18th 2008

hahaha that er...WARM is hilarious

Josephine Posted: Jan 18th 2008

Fish - you come up trumps every time (trumps as in winning cards not breaking wind!). Another favourite sock site to add to my favourites.

Mark the Shark - you've beaten me to it! THIS IS INDEED THE & SOCKS CLUB.

And the dynamic duo, for your information, terminator987, always appear on SOCKS whenever there is a new film out...so they are at the elastic edge of fashion!

Shaun the Sheep socks are also toasty warm. THEY ROCK, TOO!

Josephine Posted: Jan 18th 2008

Fish - Sir James Galway's CDs are widely available - and worth the pocket money! I hope you get to meet him one day and p'raps play flute with him. He's a true gent! :D

terminator987 Posted: Jan 18th 2008

i agree josephine i wear & socks they are really warm

Fish Posted: Jan 18th 2008
:D

You are grest fun, Josephine! I love your posts! "The elastic edge of fashion"...!|-)

Glad you clarified that trumps bit... I doubt I'll ever get to meet Sir James...but you never know, it COULD happen one day.

Yes, me too!:D

Fish Posted: Jan 18th 2008

YAY - there you are, Mark the shark!|-)

Fish Posted: Jan 18th 2008

I have a pair of W&G socks that say "ain't I stylish" - and it is actually Shaun the Sheep who is saying that - back when A Close Shave came out I think.

conty Posted: Jan 18th 2008
