We really have gone off the socks subject!>:-)

Josephine Posted: Jan 28th 2008

If people are mean about socks, MTS, then it is no wonder people are talking about different things! I'm trying to get back to this wonderful wooly topic.

& socks tomorrow! Yipee! :D

cinders1 Posted: Jan 29th 2008

we love socks josephine!!!

squigly Posted: Jan 29th 2008

Hi all. I've been away too long. Too much to catch up on all the threads!

Socks! You know it's been so cold here in the low 60s and blustery winds that I actually had to put on socks yesterday! Opened my sock drawer and rediscovered my sheep socks! Although they're not socks. Maybe I'll draw some with a permanent marker on a pair of white socks.

Fish, you got Christmas socks with toes? How fun! Are you wearing them now?

Cinders, I wonder if the original pair of rabbits were set loose by the same villager who let go of those peacocks.

Here, we have a problem with wild pigs. They tear up the roots of endangered plants with their snouts

chessy gromit Posted: Jan 29th 2008

sounds like a fairy tale gone WRONG!:D

Fish Posted: Jan 29th 2008

WOW!:O So the peacocks have been fruitful and have multiplied! I wonder what all the foxes, buzzards, deer, rabbits, etc. think about their new companions in their eco-system. Clearly most of the humans find them irritating at best.8)

Cybergurl Posted: Jan 29th 2008

Okay, this is my third try and you people had better behave. I've been banned twice for offences that weren't even my fault, some other little brat was the real culprit and he framed me just for spite and to avoid getting in trouble himself. Any offensive comments made on this account are probably my bratty little brother's fault and never mine,as we both have the same account. But if he should bother you, like say, call you something like "Jerk",you let me know and I'll try to "fix" Him. Okay????

Cybergurl Posted: Jan 29th 2008

Atta Girl,Joesphine, you tell that little Mark the Shark brat what's comming to him if he can't behave himself

Josephine Posted: Jan 29th 2008

Excuse me, Cybergurl!!!???

Mark the Shark is my FRIEND,BUDDY, CHUM - see where I'm going?
Being a FRIEND is an idea I think you are struggling to get to grips with!

Have you heard of the term "three strikes and you're out" ?

Josephine Posted: Jan 29th 2008

Cinders1 - A BIG WELCOME TO THE & SOCK LOVERS CLUB!

And may your tootsies be forever warm and snug! ;)

Mark The Shark - I wore my & socks today to cheer me up!

SOCKS ROCK!

Josephine Posted: Jan 29th 2008

squigly - the permanent marker pen is a great idea to cheer up plain socks. Get some crazy socks to cheer you up during these cold spells.

cinders1 - another job for the Bunvac 2000! And peacocks and peahens are causing a prob? They are real show-offs, aren't they? P'raps yourself and conty could film them for a soap opera and call them Gavin and Captain? You could provide their voices...

I'm waiting for the tumbleweed to pass before I come back with better suggestions... :)

Fish Posted: Jan 29th 2008

Cybergurl, were you by any chance banned for calling people names, making threats, and other unkindnesses? I consider Mark the shark to be a friend, - and he is a friend to many other people on this website. Please do us all the courtesy of of behaving well yourself.:-(

squigly Posted: Jan 29th 2008

Fish, Cybergurl is (or was) Secretagent, who was the banned member (not band member) formerly known as Springwizard. (See official notice on Mark's "Names for Characters" thread in Arts, Crafts & Cookery). So, now do you understand the behavior?

Cybergurl, you misinterpreted Josephine's comment about people being mean about socks. She was referring to your rude message on page 4. She would never insult Mark (or anyone else for that matter) because he is a nice person and a friend to a lot of people in this forum. If it is your brother who is being rude instead of you, why don't you change your password and not share it with him and prove to us that you can be a nice person too?

Josephine Posted: Jan 30th 2008

Thank you, as ever, Fish and squigly, for your support and setting the record straight on this matter.

I thought the tone of Cybergurl's messages was familiar...

Springwizard, Secretagent, Cybergurl - or whatever you want to call yourself - We are asking you nicely to get a grip on your appauling attitude and go and be nasty to someone else!

Mark the shark Posted: Jan 30th 2008

Excuse me. I don't believe Springwizard has come back to annoy me again. I appreciate everything you have said about me Josephine, Fish, Squigly. Oh, and Josephine, I hope ye enjoyed wearing your andsocks!:D

Fish Posted: Jan 30th 2008

Hey Mark the shark!:)

Mark the shark Posted: Jan 30th 2008

Heya, Fish! I was just about to open this thread and say, Katie/RichD, if you do see this thread and see what Cybergurl has wrote, can you please not lock this thread. It has brought out so much happiness and enthusiam and laughter (as all of Josephine's threads do) and it would be a shame if it was locked.:-(

Josephine Posted: Jan 30th 2008

GREETINGS, SOCK LOVERS! :D

Mark The Shark - I enjoyed wearing my & socks very much indeed, thank you! They were green with just their faces on the side. I'm wearing another pair of them tomorrow night when I meet up with a bunch of comedians. I can even flash my socks!!!!
Tee Hee! ;)

Also, I agree that it would be a shame to put a lock on this topic of discussion because of the actions of rude people. P'raps RichD (isn't that a biscuit? Oh,no! I'm getting mixed up with Rich Tea! Soz, Rich!) and Katie have the right to edit or remove the offending messages without killing the fun. In the meantime - WEAR YOUR SOCKS WITH PRIDE!!!!

Sock Eye Salmon

Fish Posted: Jan 30th 2008

PLEASE don't lock this thread! :'( I love this thread and it really is tied not just to socks, but to W&G and mintballs and all sorts of magnificent things! :)

conty Posted: Jan 31st 2008

josephine, so your going to be doing some feet flashing tonight, you go girl!!!!! ave a good time tonight, id love to be a fly on the wall with you and a room full of comedians, i bet its alot of fun;)

Mark the shark Posted: Jan 31st 2008

Me too!;)

Cybergurl Posted: Jan 31st 2008

Sorry Josephine,my bad. You are right, this IS my third account and I should be more carefull next time. I had no idea you two were best friends. So how was your day?

Josephine Posted: Jan 31st 2008

As well as could be expected!!!!!

Josephine Posted: Jan 31st 2008

conty!!!! I can't sleep because I am still excited about being in the same room as comedians. My ribs are sore from laughing so much!

I'll give you a clue as to who was there:

The guy from The Royle Family who quotes his posterior when he's not happy about something...

AND...

A legend (or is he a leg-end? You decide!) who, for half a century, has re-christened a feather duster into an instrument of mirth.

Mintballs for the correct answers! ;)

conty Posted: Feb 1st 2008

wow josephine!!!! i bet it was a good night, i love comedy and a good laugh, your not a comedy writer per chance? you always make me and mum laugh;)did you flash yer socks:D

squigly Posted: Feb 1st 2008

Sock-eye, you must have fit right in with all those comedians! Did anyone notice your and sock-os?

Conty, did you guess the answers? Do I hear some mintballs swooshing by?:O

cinders1 Posted: Feb 1st 2008

as conty said wow, yes we guessed who was there, the first one always makes me laugh, but im no so keen on the second one, though i know hes loved by millions;)

Mark the shark Posted: Feb 1st 2008

Who was there? I can't wait to hear!;)

Josephine Posted: Feb 1st 2008

Well, first off, it was sooooooo cold on the way to Liverpool that I was frozen stiff...I had to keep the guys warm, you know - W&G on my feet! I could even hear 's teeth chatter!

The warmth of the people and the atmosphere in the pub more than made up for the cold weather outside. It was a musician friend of mine who held a little get-together and buffet to say a big "TA VERY MUCH!" to all his mates and his record company for helping him in his music career - and it was packed with what I would call Liverpool entertainment royalty like Gerry Marsden (from Gerry and the Pacemakers - your rocking and rolling parents/grandparents will know him, cinders1 and conty!), Jimmy McGovern (who wrote The Street and Cracker etc.), Ken Dodd and others who melted into the happy crowd. My mate's record company people were also there as was BBC Radio Merseyside and others - it was a brilliant night!

I got to shake hands with Ken Dodd - he was on form and looking great, considering he had an operation recently. His wit is razor sharp! When he walked through the door, a huge cheer errupted, even thought you couldn't see his head for the Russian-style hat he was wearing!

I could not get near Ricky Tomlinson, though, but he's the sort of person who only has to laugh and you are in stitches instantly! He came up from London to Liverpool just to be there...he's not one to miss a good gig! What a guy! He was not short of anyone to talk to last night! |-)

(by the way, I thought I heard the whoosh! of mintballs - hope you found them tasty! ;) )

I shook hands with Gerry Marsden - in fact, there were no airs, graces or any of that business there. It was a real family atmosphere and my ribs literally ached with all the Scouse banter that was fired like bullets! I could listen to it until the cows come home...

I wouldn't have missed it for the world!
& were content that they were in the presence of legends. They helped themselves to the scran and left crumbs all over my trousers... even stuffed his doggy bag!

Josephine Posted: Feb 1st 2008

squigly - I felt that all my Christmasses have come at once! |-)

Mark the shark Posted: Feb 1st 2008

Cool!;)

squigly Posted: Feb 1st 2008

sock-eye...glad you had a fantastic time mingling with legends. I can hear you smiling and grinning all the way over here!

Did Wallace have his fill of ch-ch-ch-eeeeeessssse?

Josephine Posted: Feb 1st 2008

squigly! It was BRILLIANT!

couldn't get enough of the cheese, although he was quite taken with the chunky chips...

thought the flaming wings were hot, hot, hot!

a good time was had by all!

Cinders1 and Conty - I'm not a comedy writer BUT I occasionally have my moments.

Great comedy comes from a team of writers like Galton and Simpson and the guys who wrote Dad's Army and Are You Being Served? That sort of thing. David Renwick (One Foot In The Grave, Jonathan Creek), Roy Clarke (Last of the Summer Wine, Keeping Up Appearances, Open All Hours) and David Sullivan (Just Good Friends, Only Fools and Horses) are exceptions to the rule as they are the only credited writers to go it alone. I'm not fit to lick their lollipops - but I love learning from them! >:-)

By the way, squigly, how are the mondegreens (on another thread, of course!)?

Josephine Posted: Feb 1st 2008

Ooops! I missed out Carla Lane (Butterflies, The Liver Birds, Bread).

Yours preferably NOT on a piece of garlic bread

Fish Posted: Feb 1st 2008

What a wonderful time you had on land, Sock Eye! :D Time for a swim!

Today I wore my grey Shaun socks. They aren't the ones that say "aren't I stylish" - but I felt stylish just the same!

Cybergurl Posted: Feb 1st 2008

What are mintballs some kinda candy?Oompa Loompa Dooby dee dum! Aw,never mind.

cinders1 Posted: Feb 2nd 2008

sounds like you had a fantastic time josephine;)

Josephine Posted: Feb 2nd 2008

I did, thank you, cinders! I'm not off cloud nine yet...and I'm nursing my sore ribs from all the laughing! |-)

I hope there will be another get-together in the not-too-distant future and, of course, you'll ALL be the first to know when it does! :D

Fish - ANYTHING with W&G or is really stylish! These socks should be on the dog-walk (instead of a cat walk). I also wish that there was a range of & tights to wear with a decent skirt. OK, I better stick with comfy, cosy, wooly, mega trendy SOCKS!!!!!

Cybergurl1 - you are correct!

squigly Posted: Feb 2nd 2008

sock-eye, & tights sounds like something fun to wear!

Fish Posted: Feb 2nd 2008

I don't remember mentioning my gender, squigly. :D We are not supposed to give out details....so I'm fairly sure I haven't given that information out.

squigly Posted: Feb 2nd 2008

Sorry about that. Excuse me for the assumption! :)

Fish Posted: Feb 2nd 2008

I can neither confirm nor deny that, squigly!:D Rules is rules!

conty Posted: Feb 5th 2008

Fish Posted: Feb 5th 2008

Definitely, Conty! Unfortunately none of my W&G socks are thermal. So maybe for the next film they could produce some thermal socks in the new W&G socks for Trouble At' Mill.|-)8)
