iantimothy Posted: Dec 9th 2010

This is kind'a animation related, well it's clay related. I was in a ceramics class this semester and I thought I would upload some of the stuff I made.

We had to make a face mug, I made mine Abraham Lincoln.

iantimothy Posted: Dec 9th 2010

Here it is from a different angle.

iantimothy Posted: Dec 9th 2010

We had to make a pinch pot mug, I made mine a squirrel.

iantimothy Posted: Dec 9th 2010

The glaze on the eyes ran a bit, but that's nothing "eye" can control. ;)

iantimothy Posted: Dec 9th 2010

womble1 Posted: Dec 9th 2010

Ursrut Posted: Dec 9th 2010

cavor Posted: Dec 9th 2010

Super job iantimothy great sculpting skills

claymotion247 Posted: Dec 9th 2010

so cool - r u selling them lol|-)

Chocachoc Posted: Dec 9th 2010

They look fantastic! Looks far more fun than we had to do in art class! Also, I can see that squirrel being in one of your animations! He looks your style ;D

iantimothy Posted: Dec 9th 2010

I have a bird nest bowl, a cow mug, a corn dish, a chicken plate and a train box, coming out of the kiln tomorrow.

Clay Fighter Posted: Dec 9th 2010

haha, Love the abraham Lincoln!!
Also- I loved your pun ;)
great work!

iantimothy Posted: Dec 9th 2010

glad someone caught that, because it was a "cornea" joke.

mmasonghi studios Posted: Dec 10th 2010

Ha I got that one!

Clay Fighter Posted: Dec 10th 2010

cavor Posted: Dec 21st 2010

I'm working on some wacky pottery at the moment....... this one

cavor Posted: Dec 21st 2010

Plus a mug to compliment my W & G style Tea Pot

Will upload a picture of the finished mug possible by the end of the week...in the kiln being fired

iantimothy Posted: Dec 21st 2010

I like that teapot a lot. That greenish glaze looks really good.

Ellie M Aardman Staff Posted: Dec 21st 2010

Wow Cavor- these are great! I'm starting a pottery course in the new year- perhaps I'll make some Aardman-style pieces. Be sure to upload the finished items to the Creations page!

cavor Posted: Dec 23rd 2010

This is my W&G style mug biscuit fired......it's in the kiln at the moment being glazed fired!! at 1060 deg C, will upload finished picture soon

iantimothy Posted: Dec 23rd 2010

That looks really good, how'd you glaze it? Is the cup part wheel thrown? or is it hand built?

cavor Posted: Dec 23rd 2010

The cup is thrown on a wheel but the rest I made in pieces hand, arm, joints etc which were then left over night untill leather hard then cut and assembled with slip and the glazes were Duncan brush on.....a bit messy

iantimothy Posted: Dec 23rd 2010

Well it looks really good, do you have a class or just do them on your own.

cavor Posted: Dec 23rd 2010

Well I became an Art technician just over a year ago in a school and its one of my duties to keep the pottery room clean (very hard with all that muddy stuff they use!!) so this job has re-ignited my interest in pottery from years ago and I have invested in a potters wheel and a small kiln so yes to both of your questions.

It feels like christmas every time you open up a kiln....I can't wait till the morning to open up my glaze firing which finished almost an hour ago....far to hot at the moment! its at about 800 deg c hot enough to remove my eye brows etc if I were stupid enough to open it

iantimothy Posted: Dec 23rd 2010

I had a ceramics class this year, and it was my first time with ceramics, and I really enjoyed it. We had two kilns in the classroom, a big one and a small one, and I know what you mean, I love when the kiln opens and all that finished stuff comes out, it's great.

cavor Posted: Dec 23rd 2010

Keep going, your animation sculpting skills make you look like a natural potter

cavor Posted: Dec 23rd 2010

This is some of the work in my kiln at the moment

cavor Posted: Dec 24th 2010

All glazed and finished......note the W&G inspired plaster on the back view taken from the moon rocket

cavor Posted: Dec 24th 2010

Also I'm pleased with the finish of the W&G inspired mechanical mug

mmasonghi studios Posted: Dec 25th 2010

nice cavor!

Nathan M Posted: Dec 27th 2010

thats soo cool :D i wish these were in shops

666joshy666 Posted: Dec 27th 2010

Cavor I would most certainly buy one of those W&G Mechanic Arm mugs! Its AWESOME!!!!

cavor Posted: Dec 27th 2010

Thanks guy's........Maybe I will have to talk to the people at Aardman and see about marketing them!!

666joshy666 Posted: Dec 28th 2010

Please do! PLEASE do! :D

Ursrut Posted: Dec 28th 2010

Cavor- That mug looks absolutely AWESOME!

cavor Posted: Dec 28th 2010

Thanks for the comments on me mug.....I think I will have smaller rivets on the next one I make

cavor Posted: Jan 1st 2011

Started another W&G mug this one has smaller rivets

666joshy666 Posted: Jan 1st 2011

Can I have this one? :D

cavor Posted: Jan 1st 2011

I haven't spoken to Aards yet...but to produce these mugs in a saleable volume I would have to make plaster moulds and slip cast them.......so its not that simple!!

Maybe I will have to see if I can donate a mug to one of the W&G contest's for a prize

666joshy666 Posted: Jan 2nd 2011

I was joking by the way hehe (I still want one though of course) As a competition prize would be an awesome incentive to enter this month or whenever (If ever) they use it as a prize. Anyways, as I said before, stunning work Cavor! Hehe that rhymes 8)

VincentAnimations01 Posted: Jan 4th 2011

Wow, all this work is great! I've been making ceramics for a couple years.
Here is a pot modelled on the scales of a pineapple.

VincentAnimations01 Posted: Jan 4th 2011

On the wall is a large ceramic pineapple mosaic and to the left are ceramic sea urchins
A whole years work!!:O
