WALLACE & GROMIT CHAT » CERAMICS
This is kind'a animation related, well it's clay related. I was in a ceramics class this semester and I thought I would upload some of the stuff I made.
We had to make a face mug, I made mine Abraham Lincoln.
Here it is from a different angle.
We had to make a pinch pot mug, I made mine a squirrel.
The glaze on the eyes ran a bit, but that's nothing "eye" can control. ![]()
here it is.
looks amazing
well done
aww- AWESOME
I think the squirell looks a bit crazier and cuter with the colour run ![]()
Super job iantimothy great sculpting skills![]()
so cool - r u selling them lol![]()
They look fantastic! Looks far more fun than we had to do in art class! Also, I can see that squirrel being in one of your animations! He looks your style ;D
I have a bird nest bowl, a cow mug, a corn dish, a chicken plate and a train box, coming out of the kiln tomorrow.
haha, Love the abraham Lincoln!!
Also- I loved your pun ![]()
great work!
glad someone caught that, because it was a "cornea" joke.
Ha I got that one!
haha, your too funny Ian
I'm working on some wacky pottery at the moment....... this one
Plus a mug to compliment my W & G style Tea Pot![]()
Will upload a picture of the finished mug possible by the end of the week...in the kiln being fired![]()
I like that teapot a lot. That greenish glaze looks really good.
Wow Cavor- these are great! I'm starting a pottery course in the new year- perhaps I'll make some Aardman-style pieces. Be sure to upload the finished items to the Creations page!
This is my W&G style mug biscuit fired......it's in the kiln at the moment being glazed fired!! at 1060 deg C, will upload finished picture soon![]()
That looks really good, how'd you glaze it? Is the cup part wheel thrown? or is it hand built?
The cup is thrown on a wheel but the rest I made in pieces hand, arm, joints etc which were then left over night untill leather hard then cut and assembled with slip and the glazes were Duncan brush on.....a bit messy![]()
Well it looks really good, do you have a class or just do them on your own.
Well I became an Art technician just over a year ago in a school and its one of my duties to keep the pottery room clean (very hard with all that muddy stuff they use!!) so this job has re-ignited my interest in pottery from years ago and I have invested in a potters wheel and a small kiln so yes to both of your questions.![]()
It feels like christmas every time you open up a kiln....I can't wait till the morning to open up my glaze firing which finished almost an hour ago....far to hot at the moment! its at about 800 deg c hot enough to remove my eye brows etc if I were stupid enough to open it![]()
I had a ceramics class this year, and it was my first time with ceramics, and I really enjoyed it. We had two kilns in the classroom, a big one and a small one, and I know what you mean, I love when the kiln opens and all that finished stuff comes out, it's great.
Keep going, your animation sculpting skills make you look like a natural potter![]()
This is some of the work in my kiln at the moment ![]()
All glazed and finished......note the W&G inspired plaster on the back view taken from the moon rocket![]()
Also I'm pleased with the finish of the W&G inspired mechanical mug![]()
nice cavor!
thats soo cool
i wish these were in shops
Cavor I would most certainly buy one of those W&G Mechanic Arm mugs! Its AWESOME!!!!
Thanks guy's........Maybe I will have to talk to the people at Aardman and see about marketing them!!![]()
Please do! PLEASE do! ![]()
Cavor- That mug looks absolutely AWESOME!
Thanks for the comments on me mug.....I think I will have smaller rivets on the next one I make![]()
Started another W&G mug this one has smaller rivets![]()
Can I have this one? ![]()
I haven't spoken to Aards yet...but to produce these mugs in a saleable volume I would have to make plaster moulds and slip cast them.......so its not that simple!!![]()
Maybe I will have to see if I can donate a mug to one of the W&G contest's for a prize![]()
I was joking by the way hehe (I still want one though of course) As a competition prize would be an awesome incentive to enter this month or whenever (If ever) they use it as a prize. Anyways, as I said before, stunning work Cavor! Hehe that rhymes ![]()
Wow, all this work is great! I've been making ceramics for a couple years.
Here is a pot modelled on the scales of a pineapple.
Some of my exam work:
On the wall is a large ceramic pineapple mosaic and to the left are ceramic sea urchins
A whole years work!!![]()
