If you'd love to try your hand at animation but don't know where to start, we have news of a fantastic opporunity with an amazing prize up for grabs! Aardman has teamed up with Crayola for an animation competition running over on its Animate It! website. So, if you've got a great idea that you'd like to put onto film, why not take part?

First off you'll need the Animate It! software, which you can download a free 7-day trial of. Animate It! is super easy to use, so even if you're a complete beginner you'll quickly get the hang of animation basics. Why not check out this demo which talks you through using the software:

The other thing you'll need, of course, is a really good idea! To make your film stand out you need to come up with something a bit different that really engages and excites your audience!

Once you've got to grips with the software and have come up with your film idea,  whizz over to the My Crayola competition page where you can find all the competition details and check out the My Crayola movie film kit for some ideas and tips, plus a storyboard template to help you plan your movie.

So, what's the amazing prize, we hear you cry? Well, not only will the winning film be premiered at your local ODEON cinema, but the winner will also receive an ODEON family cinema ticket for 4 to see the film of their choice, a bumper pack of Crayola goodies worth over £200 plus a family ticket for 4 to go and visit the fantastic Animate It! exhibition at At-Bristol.

Visit the Animate It! website to find out more about this fantastic opportunity.

Sounds great! Is there an age limit? And when's the closing date?

Hi gromitsbuddyinginventor! The competition is open to children aged 16 and under. Good luck!
