you cant just use somebodys work/ draw over it and uplaod it to a competition.

I think Aardman must make that decision because it's not exactly 100% copying.

It's like someone drawing the Mona Lisa - they haven't claimed the original as their own but in some senses it's copying.

Best leave it to Aardman officials.

I wouldn't say so quite, because he started with a white background and used it as a general guide by looking at it.

the artist is very upset their art was taken and traced over how's that not harming anything?

to be honest,if you took a film made by steven speilberg and added one more frame into the film,it would not be you're creation,it would be a variation on the original. entering a creation drawn over someone elses drawing,using it as a base,is stealing i think.

I really like the idea of a reply button for comets that also sends a email to the person they replied to and a new comment posted email for creations you posted
would really help so you didnt have to check the website and find nothing

I do think it would be nice if we could have profile pages. Allot of people don't think we need a buddies system but a profile page should be a good thing.
The page could show a persons creations, their prizes for a creation, a link to their website and a small section about them selves ( obviously not very personal details).

It would be nice on the my content page if you had a search bar, and could type in what thread you wanted, or an aphabetical order option. The same could happen on the general forum page.

I think it would be good if new members had to wait a month or two before they were allowed to create threads. Most of the cluster we get on this forum is created by new members who do not know the rules and make many new threads that are spam, random or hostile.

Your locking too many threads, yes lock the obvious spam ones which are either off topic or made for people to chat but you have just locked the thread 'Wallace and Gromit News' what was the point in that, it wasnt spam, are people not aloud to see if other people are ok or not on this site, because it dosent seem like it.

Yes - sorry about that, it was just for a short while as I was in the middle of sorting something else out on the internet.

It was a shame - started as an interesting thread but people just kept chatting. I'll clean it up and get it unlocked now!

I like the idea of the limited threads idea, but perhaps they could be limited to a certain amount a month. Although many threads are the "I'm new!' Threads, we want to make these new members feel welcome so stoping them from making new threads for a few months might turn them away. That would mean useful members as well as any spammers.

wandgfan21, I am all for hospitality and a warm welcome. New members could comment on any thread they want as often as they want. But they would lack the instantaneous ability to clog up our forum with new threads. Truly interested people will hang in there until they've earned the right to make threads. For example, thousands of people spend time in Farm Town - an online farming game, where we must earn the right to buy or do things. The hospitality is great at that site. There are just limits to what we can do at first.

When we allow brand new members to clog up the site, we drive away valued, long term members who simply cannot enjoy the site any longer because of the volume of new and sometimes unpleasant threads. I seriously doubt we will drive off new members who are truly interested in this site and relate to us in a positive way.

Interesting views from everyone on this - my opinion, and I don't know if this can even be done, is that maybe it would be best for new topics not to be created until a Moderator had checked it out. So there would be a delay but it would stop spam threads...

Good idea, Seb. A lot of blogs do that. As long as the wait isn't TOO long, it might work well.

I like the idea of an approved before posted service, but i do think that people would get annoyed over time. There are times when there are no staff or moderators for hours so this would annoy some people. But it would do people good to keep using the same threads.

Its all southpark13's fault there is a approve before post on the creations its not fair how 1 person could ruin it for everyone
