Fish Posted: May 2nd 2008

Someone stole my tumbleweed thread!:O It must have been Katie or Rich. 0:)The Aardman people didn't just lock it - they ate it! I hope the tumbleweed doesn't give them indigestion!0:)

Mark the shark Posted: May 2nd 2008

Hehehe! You're funny. :D

Josephine Posted: May 2nd 2008

I'll do my best, Jordan!

;)

Josephine Posted: May 2nd 2008

Is that one OK?

Hopefully, you'll all see why this is one of my favourite Almighty Nick P/W&G pictures. The expression on ANP's face says it all, doesn't it??????

Fish, old fruit!

Here's a WHOOOOSSHHHH to those responsible for nicking the tumbleweed!

Mark the shark Posted: May 3rd 2008

That's a great picture Josephine, old cream-cracker! No wonder you used it for your avatar. ;)

jordan Posted: May 3rd 2008

thanks yippee

Mark the shark Posted: May 3rd 2008

Hi Jordan! ;)

squigly Posted: May 3rd 2008

aaaaahhh! I missed you again, sockeye! In any case, I'm chuffed you were able to pop in for a visit and a chat.

Been quite busy myself the past week or so. Went to a Jason Mraz concert last night (I posted his song and video clip on the Singing Club thread - you should watch the video, it's my current fav song). The concert was at this outdoor venue called the Waikiki Shell. If you sit in the Lawn section, you get to spread out a blanket or a mat, lie back and listen to the music while watching the stars.

Last weekend I had a chance to go on a one night cruise (my first cruise ever!). Tried to stay up all night but had to head back to the cabin around 1:30 a.m. for some zzzzzzs as the eye lids were struggling to stay open.

Welcome back to the forum, sharkie. Hope you had a nice time in York. What was the reason for your class trip?

Sorry to hear about your tumbleweed thread, Fish. Didn't get to see it myself so I don't know what I missed. Sometimes I wonder why they allow certain threads to linger yet are quick to delete others. I liked your smiley face tumbleweed pic too. Hopefully I'll catch you sometime tonight or tomorrow!|-)

In the meantime....fancy a swim anyone?

SSSHHHHHHHHHHPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw, great springboard dive and wipeout, sockeye!

Fish Posted: May 3rd 2008

Thanks for the condolences on the tumbleweed thread, squigly! How ya been? What's the weather like in the south Pacific?:D

squigly Posted: May 3rd 2008

Heya Fish! The vog (volcanic smog) is still lingering as there are now two active fissures emitting a lot of gas and smoke and wreaking havoc with the air quality as well as views. It's much worse on the Big Island (the island farthest east where the volcanic activity is located). However, the trade winds have returned to blow some of the vog away. Still, I couldn't see much from the cruise ship last Saturday as the coastline was shrouded in vog. At last night's concert, there was a small chance of light rain but I think the trade winds blew the rain clouds (and vog) back which made for a "dry" yet chilly time. My thumb gage estimates the temperature was about low 70's.

How's the weather in your neck of the woods?

Fish Posted: May 3rd 2008

Hey, squigly!:D The weather here is a bit cool, but nothing like the western part of the state. The interstate was closed at North Platte due to a BLIZZARD yesterday.:O I was afraid we'd get hit with the snow too, but so far that has been narrowly escaped. The lilacs are still getting ready to bloom. Last year we got cheated out of all the lilacs because of a late freeze.:'( I went for a walk tonight and the lilac bushes seemed to be OK.

squigly Posted: May 3rd 2008

It's still snowing? This is May, for goodness sakes! I'm glad you and the lilacs have been spared! A couple of weeks ago the gardenia bush at my dad's had the first buds of the season, which is early. I just love the smell of gardenias.

Fish Posted: May 3rd 2008

Gardenias are my mother's favourite! We always gave them to her on Mother's Day. I love the smell of them, too! |-) Lilacs are my favourite flower. :)

squigly Posted: May 3rd 2008

I tend to like things in the lavendar/purple color range (did you notice that I shaded the background on the Trouble At' Mill DVD label in Creations a light violet?) so I'm sure I would enjoy looking at lilacs. Do they have a scent?

Fish Posted: May 3rd 2008

They have a wonderful scent - or at least I think it's wonderful. |-) Have you never smelled lilacs?

squigly Posted: May 3rd 2008

No I haven't. But come to think of it, I've seen things that have lilac fragrances such as bath gels at Crabtee & Evelyn. I wish the internet had smell-o-vision (Google Scents, perhaps?) so that I could look up a scent as easily as looking up a song.:-|

Fish Posted: May 3rd 2008

Yeah...me too. That would be very helpful.

I think there should be the "spellernet" for dogs to communicate with each other!:D I swear dogs "write" long, involved messages when they leave their scent on things. :D

squigly Posted: May 3rd 2008

hmmmmm, very interesting thought.

hey fish, I gotta go. A friend just called and we're going to go walking along the beach before the sun goes down. See ya!

|-)

i hav missed u too! hi!!!

conty Posted: May 4th 2008

ooohhh and you too stacy kiss, did you get a model made? i think the last time i was on here you where thinking about making one:)

arthur Posted: May 4th 2008

hello

squigly Posted: May 4th 2008

ooh conty, sorry if my message sounds like the video clip was from the concert (wish it was) - i found it on you tube and is one of many versions of Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" and it looks like it was filmed here.

hehe, the cruise was advertised as The Cruise to Nowhere. as it was only a one day cruise, it left port around 4 p.m., headed east past Waikiki and Diamond Head, turned around heading west or southwest (it was too dark to see), then somehow ended back in port by 7 the next morning. i think it made one big triangle!

black Posted: May 4th 2008

what are you talking about?

conty Posted: May 4th 2008

sounds good, i went on a cruize a few years ago, we went to africa, morocco portugal, spain and gerbalta (spelt that wrong!) where i fed the monkeys, it was great id love to go again, but in your neck of the woods would be better, my girlfriend is going in october i think shes stopping in your country the lucky thing!!!;)

black Posted: May 4th 2008

that is so cool.

Mark the shark Posted: May 4th 2008

CONTY!!! Me bro from another mo! WAHOO! You're back! What cruise did you go on? Ocean Village? Island Escape? ;)

black Posted: May 4th 2008
:)

what island escape?

Mark the shark Posted: May 4th 2008

A cruise.

Josephine Posted: May 4th 2008

Whahooooooooo!!!! All my ole mates back again!!!! SANITEEEE!!!!! Ecky Pecky! Again, I'm playing catch-up...

Hiya, Markie Sharkie, my ole fruitbun! I'm glad you enjoyed York and Florida... SHAAAARRRRKKKKK!!!!!!! Did you scare the locals?! Did you see any real sharks - even in York????

Howdeedoo, conty, my ole mint imperial! I'm still grooving my truffles whilst waiting for the next cracking gig to go to...BRING IT ON!!!! In the meantime, it'll have to be the CDs and air saxophone >:-)

By the way, conty - that piccie of the Almighty Nick P was found by accident on a certain search engine (beginning with A) and I decided to add it to my collection. It's a corker, isn't it? All the very best for exam success, conty! You can do it, mate!!!

Sounds like a cracking gig, squigly squid! Vog? That's a new one for my vocabulary book... volcano and fog - a good name for a pub (tee-hee!). I believe that when one errupts, the haze it leaves makes sunsets look lovely - if that is a fib, then I'll take my old Geography teacher to task!!!! I heard one of my mates describe a cruise as a floating block of flats with a different view out the porthole windows every day. Boys oh boys, that would be good! One day it's Istanbul (not Constantinople), the next day Naples, the next day Malta...the next day Cork Harbour - whoopiedoo!

Fish, my ole flower! About doggie messages and the length of time they sniff them. Well, Nutmeg Blue leaves a lot of gossip behind her when we go for walkies for other doggies to smell. I'd love to know what they say to each other, too - it's all in the water...so I'm told!

I thank you!

Sock Eye Salmon

squigly Posted: May 5th 2008

someone was up in the wee hours. My best guess, it was 3 in the morning when you wrote that message?

Your geography teacher is no fibber. Haze makes for some very colorful sunsets. Of course, if the haze is so thick that you can't even see the sun, then you might think the 'ol Geog teacher fed you a load of rubbish. I believe there's a famous saying about a red sky that forewarns of a storm. That is very true and also makes for a very spectacular sunset. I'll try to Google that saying and post it here if I find it.

arthur Posted: May 5th 2008

hi squigly i came on at 5.00

squigly Posted: May 5th 2008

found the old adage:
Red sky at night; shepherds delight,
Red sky in the morning; shepherds warning

"shepherd" is sometimes replaced by "sailor"

Mark the shark Posted: May 5th 2008

SOCK-EYE!!! WAHOO!!! YOU'VE RETURNED!!! I hope I didn't scare them. Some looked rather strangely at me. YIKES! I hope I can get plastic surgery to cover my scar! :D I unfortunately didn't see any sharks, rats. :D Well, it's good to have you back! Let's sing a song about friends.

Well Ali Baba had them forty thieves
Scheherezade had a thousand tales
But master you in luck 'cause up your sleeves
You got a brand of magic never fails
You got some power in your corner now
Some heavy ammunition in your camp
You got some punch, pizzazz, yahoo and how
See all you gotta do is rub that lamp
And I'll say

Mister Aladdin, sir
What will your pleasure be?
Let me take your order
Jot it down
You ain't never had a friend like me
Ha ha ha

Life is your restaurant
And I'm your maitre d'
C'mon whisper what it is you want
You ain't never had a friend like me

Yes sir, we pride ourselves on service
You're the boss
The king, the shah
Say what you wish
It's yours! True dish
How about a little more Baklava?

Have some of column "A"
Try all of column "B"
I'm in the mood to help you dude
You ain't never had a friend like me

Can your friends do this?
Can your friends do that?
Can your friends pull this out their little hat?
Can your friends go, Woo?
Well, looky here
Can your friends go, Abracadabra, let 'er rip
And then make the sucker disappear?

So doncha sit there slack jawed, buggy eyed
I'm here to answer all your middnight prayers
You got me bona fide, certified
You got a genie for your charge d'affaires
I got a powerful urge to help you out
So what-cha wish? I really wanna know
You got a list that's three miles long, no doubt
Well, all you gotta do is rub like so - and oh

Mister Aladdin, sir, have a wish or two or three
I'm on the job, you big nabob
You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend
You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend
You ain't never had a friend like me
You ain't never had a friend like me, hah!

Is there really a beach in Hawaii that has black sand?
Is there really a beach in Hawaii whose sand sounds like dogs barking when you walk on it?
