Sharkie - I posted a note on the socks thread some time ago, saying that I'd worn a pair of gizmo socks when I went running that day. Jordan (who should be a copper) googled the info I gave about the socks, and came up with a picture of them! They are distinctly feminine.:O I think you were in Florida at the time.

Thanks squigly - and everyone who posted concern for me. Right after I posted a note here (I think on this thread) we had to make a mad dash for the basement. When we came back upstairs we saw that we'd lost our apple tree in the storm! :'( We were all OK, though....and for that I give BIG thanks! There isn't much damage to the house, either. Since then (for the last two days)it has been one violent storm after another. Last night a tornado ripped through the other side of town. I was very scared because I have family members who live right where it was. It took awhile to find out (lots of power outages) but as of this afternoon we have been in contact, and everyone is OK!

But there are MORE storms in the forcast! :-( I am really VERY tired of this - as is everyone else in the area! At least I'm back online, though. I missed you all! :D

squigly Posted: Jun 8th 2008

We missed you too Fish and I'm really happy that you and your family are all okay. I looked at the online weather maps last night and saw this real bad system hanging over Indiana, Illinois and heading into Nebraska. I'm glad the flooding hasn't hit your area.

Fish Posted: Jun 8th 2008

Actually, we have lots of flooding in the area. But our house is on a hill and has so far escaped any water damage. :)

squigly Posted: Jun 8th 2008

Oh hi Fish...good thing for the hill then!

Fish Posted: Jun 8th 2008

Absolutely!!:O How's the "vog" these days, squigly?

purple and brown Posted: Jun 9th 2008
:D

hello

cinders1 Posted: Jun 9th 2008

aahhh fish your ok, had us worried there for a bit, glad you and your family are ok;)

squigly Posted: Jun 9th 2008

hi cinders and P&B!

Fish, it's been quite blustery around here lately which in a sense is good because it blows the vog away. I can see the mountains and sky again!:)

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

I'm glad to hear it is better "vog-wise" where you live, squigly! :)

Here is a picture of some of the storm damage in our area. Our house is fine, but some of our neighbors were not as lucky!:-(

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

This is a picture from the newspaper website...

jordan Posted: Jun 9th 2008

i see the guy has come out from behind his sofa, must have finihsed watching Doctor Who

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

Jordan, I think it was the wrong time of day for the show to be on TV. Dr. Who comes on in the late afternoon here. The tornado hit us at 2:30 am! :O The warning sirens went off after the tornado hit some parts of the city. In any case, this poor guy has lost just about everything.:-(

jordan Posted: Jun 9th 2008

it was a joke.....LOL

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

I know, Jordan!:D

jordan Posted: Jun 9th 2008

oh right..DUR JORDAN! LOL

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

DUR JORDAN...?

jordan Posted: Jun 9th 2008

i thought you didnt get the joke but you did

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

OH:D

cinders1 Posted: Jun 9th 2008

blimey fish you where lucky to get away unscathed:O

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 9th 2008

Yeah, lol! ;)

purple and brown Posted: Jun 9th 2008

hello!

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

Hi Cinders, Sharkie and P&B!:D We were very VERY lucky this time around! And now we are thinking we might be able to save our apple tree. We're going to try to push it back to a standing position - then tie it in place. It still has some root connected...might work if we all push. I'm thinking we should tie Ralphie to the trunk and he can pull while the rest of us push.

purple and brown Posted: Jun 9th 2008
:D

!

cinders1 Posted: Jun 9th 2008

you could do with borrowing our meg, i will send her over to give you a hand fish;) i hope you can save your tree, i think its worth a try, my mum has lots of fruit trees and their prity hardy;)

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

Meg's help would be very welcome - thanks, Cinders!:D

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 9th 2008

SAVE THE TREE!!! :D

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

Hey, Sharkie! I sure hope we can save the apple tree!

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 9th 2008

Wahoo! Fishy! YAHOO! I hope so too. Save our wildlife! :D

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

Do you have deer wandering around inside villages and towns in Scotland? We do here - they came into our yards in the evening during the cold months. I think it is because it was such a rough winter.

cinders1 Posted: Jun 9th 2008

we see the deer quite a bit when were out with meg for a walk in the fields in our village, i love to see them, better than those damb peacocks;)

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008

The peacocks!:DI'd forgotten about them! Are they still around, or have they packed up and moved elsewhere?

cinders1 Posted: Jun 9th 2008

no still here strutting their stuff;)

Fish Posted: Jun 9th 2008
:D

Do they stay out of your way these days?

Chocachoc Posted: Jun 9th 2008

hi

purple and brown Posted: Jun 9th 2008

hello!:D

cinders1 Posted: Jun 9th 2008

they dont hang about when they see me coming. one was sat on our roof of our house a few days back, but i think meg being in the garden puts them off coming down in our garden, they are prity but they do quite a bit of damage, i like to see them though even if they cause havoc amoungnst the old folk in the village, im suprised theyve not been beaten with walking sticks;)

gromitlove Posted: Jun 9th 2008

Hello everyone, so glad to see you all here and well and with your wits about you. I am sure I don't have the fortitude to withstand tornadoes or volcanic dust, or even destructive peacocks (There were a flock in a park near us years ago, getting so much attention that they were unable to lay any eggs. But they were enclosed by a high fence and didn't bother anyone). What do they do to the old folks?

Good luck with your apple tree, Fish.

squigly Posted: Jun 10th 2008

hi gromilove...haven't seen you around in ages! you're lucky you don't have to deal with tornedoes and vog and peacocks! lol I imagine the peacocks and peahens must bother the old folks to no end with their loud ca-cawing and unpleasant droppings. i think cinders also previously mentioned about some aggressive peacock behavior towards shoppers at the local village shops. but peacocks beware when cinders' in town!

cinders1 Posted: Jun 10th 2008

they raid the old peoples greenhouses!!!! and strip everything bare, one old lady was telling me every single red tomatoe was eaten by them, and the green ones that she had left where cooking to death in the greenhouse as she had to keep the doors shut to keep the peacocks out, there are a few allotments too and i belive they have a field day up there.
theres one lovely old guy up there and always cuts me beautiful sweet peas, they smell lovely and are so pritty its a shame they dont flower very long, although he makes me laugh he says its just an excuse to get me in his garage!!! hehe:D

katie Aardman Staff Posted: Jun 10th 2008

Blimey fish - looks like you had a close call with the weather! It seems silly that us Brits moan when we get a bit of rain.....

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 10th 2008

Yes, Fish, we do indeed have deer. And what's more, right BEHIND MY HOUSE! :D There's a forest behind my house. The two musketeers and I love to explore it. At the very other end of it, there's a way into the sewer! Althought we've never gone into it. :D

purple and brown Posted: Jun 10th 2008

cool what animals do usee?:D

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 10th 2008

Sorry? :)

purple and brown Posted: Jun 10th 2008

in the forest

Fish Posted: Jun 10th 2008

Sharkie - maybe you could post a picture of your forest - I'd love to see it!:D

Fish Posted: Jun 10th 2008

Cinders Those peacocks sound nearly as destructive as a tornado!:O

Katie, everyone everywhere complains about the weather. I think it is written into the genetic code of the human race!:D Anyhow, we do our share of whining about it too. This time of year, however, it can suddenly turn deadly...and that is a completely different issue altogether...

Josephine Posted: Jun 10th 2008

Oh, Fish, my friend! I hope you, your family and Ralphie are OK after such horrid weather where you are!

My thoughts and prayers for you and yours have been stepped up for your safety.

We are with you, buddy!!!!!

A very worried Sock Eye Salmon :'(

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 10th 2008

I suppose. I'll need to borrow my sister's camera, but that'll mean I'll have to wait till next week. She's at the French Alps, leaving and me and my bro able to ravage through her room! :D

Fish Posted: Jun 10th 2008

Sock Eye! Great to read you!:D Thanks for the prayers - we all definitely need them! This has been a tough spring in terms of violent weather. I guess that global warming is partly to blame for it. We've had more tornados in the last few weeks than we usually get all spring and summer!:O
