Fish Posted: Mar 12th 2008

OOPS! Sorry, Sharkie - I can't get rid of the picture.:-( I can edit the post and that is it. Thanks for letting us know she is still around, even if she isn't talking with us.

Fish Posted: Mar 12th 2008

Feel free to drop in, Sock Eye....

Fish Posted: Mar 12th 2008

I played my Fleeced game for the first time tonight - and I won!! :D

Josephine Posted: Mar 14th 2008

Oh, hecky-pecky-poo! :O

That's my cousin-well-and-truly-canned!!!

:'(:'(:'( WAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

I was asked to identify the body by the Marine Police ... then I made a dive for it because the detective looked at me like I was a side-dish!

And, to add insult to injury, those blighters even put a packet of CRACKERS into the box! Heartless, gutless...lifeless!

They won't catch me! ;)

Yours in the spirit of Houdini
Sock Eye Salmon

PS: What is an Arctic Char?

Is it:

a) An Inuit Cleaning Lady (in the UK a char is a domestic cleaning lady)

b) a burnt-out Arctic Roll (a round ice cream dessert surrounded by jam and sponge)?

or c) A fish?

Cha is another word for tea - a cup of cha, anyone?

Josephine Posted: Mar 14th 2008

I feel awful having left you for so long. It's nothing you have said or done at all!

I'm sorry for the hurt I've caused you, my dear friends! :'(

Fish Posted: Mar 14th 2008

You are forgiven, Sock eye :) It's just that we missed you terribly. I had been gone from here for just a day and came back and found the website was full of bickering and people threatening to leave.:-( I was upset by that and was afraid you might have left us because of it.:'(

So glad that isn't true!!:D

Josephine Posted: Mar 14th 2008

Yes, Fish, I noticed there being a lot of bickering and stuff on these forums which I find very sad... and that was before the dog ate my homework and when my sock-eyed cousin turned out to be well and truly canned.

A few months ago, I too felt like jacking it in on here because, out of the blue, there was a most hurtful post that was directed at me by a now-ex-forum member whom I was actually trying to encourage! :O

It later transpired that the same now-ex-forum member was being offensive to other members, too, which made my blood boil!

Thanks to the kindness shown by Katie and you, Fish, and all my dear friends here - I thought: "Why should I call it quits? We're here because we love the Aards and W&G and we love and look out for one another!"

This forum and website is bigger than any bickering! In fact, the bickering takes up more space than anything...which is wrong, don't you think so?

I ain't goin' nowhere! >:-)

Fish Posted: Mar 14th 2008

That's how I feel too....that the love of W&G and CO can outlast any negativity. And it REALLY bothered me how much space the bickering took up! :O I could not find a thread unsullied by the dispute when I came back. I think we need someone to monitor the site on the weekends, since this is when all [not heaven] seems to break loose. Thank goodness Sharkie stayed with us, too!

Josephine Posted: Mar 15th 2008

I agree, Fish. I'm glad Sharkie's back, too. It would be a crying shame if he left for good...

Mark the shark Posted: Mar 15th 2008

Josphine! WAHOO! Hi FIsh. I have tried to edit my thing with a video on it and I know what you mean.;)

gromitlove Posted: Mar 15th 2008

YIKES!!! not Josephine!

gromitlove Posted: Mar 15th 2008

Wait a minute, how did this get on here? I was responding to the terrible sight of CANNED SALMON:'( I must not have realized that there was another page, SORRY, since over here it looks like I'm aghast to see Josephine is back. Au contraire! Oops!
I must say I have been enjoying many witty writings and exchanges, some from a longish time ago, and I was concerned that everyone was announcing their departures. Glad that's over. I don't always have something to add, so I should say thanks for making the fun a matter for all.

squigly Posted: Mar 15th 2008

Hi gromitlove. That happens to me a lot too - responding to something on the thread only to find out it's jumped 20 posts ahead and has nothing to do with the latest post. lol|-) Feel free to join in anytime.

666joshy666 Posted: Mar 16th 2008

Just rollin' along

YIPTA-HOOOOOTTTIIIIIEEEEE!!!!

Sock Eye Salmon

gromitlove Posted: Mar 18th 2008

I first read about Arctic Char in a book by Peter Freuchen, who opened a Danish trading post in northernmost Greenland, at the top of the world, in the early 1900's. (He had an Inuit cleaning lady, too!)

If you ever think life's rough, and you have time, read his Book of the Eskimo.

Now that I know that Sock-Eye Salmon is a witty pretty denizen of the deep I am loath to cook it, hence the presence of Arctic Char in my pan.

And if I ever swim in the north Pacific Ocean, I will listen for that distinctive call of "Yipta-hootie"

Isn't that the crow on top of the totem pole?

Mark the shark Posted: Mar 18th 2008

Oh Sock-Eye, don't you just love to swim. It's great!
And even as I wander
Im keeping you in sight
Youre a candle in the window
On a cold, dark winters night
And Im getting closer than I ever thought I might

And I cant fight this feeling anymore
Ive forgotten what I started fighting for
Its time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars, forever

Cause I cant fight this feeling anymore
Ive forgotten what I started fighting for
And if I have to crawl upon the floor
Come crashing through your door
Baby, I cant fight this feeling anymore

Josephine Posted: Mar 18th 2008

Greetings, 1980's music lovers!

Markie Sharkie! You've burst into song again! Yiptahootie! I can hear it through the waters...very nice :D. As ever, you are sooo kind! Let's ZZZZZZZZZZZOOOOOOOMMMMM through the waters, shall we?

REO Speedwagon - where the hecky peck have they gone? They were one of the few quality bands to have made that decade bearable, actually!

Here's another 1980's classic - lyrics changed, of course!

A good shark these days is hard to fiiiinnndddd
True shark - the lasting kind!
A good shark these days is hard to fiiiinnndddd
So please be gentle with this shark-(friend) of miiiinnneee

And guess who had a number one hit with it in the 1980's?
Feargal Sharkey! No, serious! Look it up! Guinness book of British Hit Singles and Albums...

Yours in spiky hair and shoulder pads
Sock Eye Salmon

Josephine Posted: Mar 18th 2008

gromitlove - I'm mega impressed with your account of the Arctic Char. I'm well chuffed to mintballs with it...

And, yes, it is a crow on top of the totem pole. That's why I'm disguised as a cross between a 1980's New Wave rocker and Alexis Carrington...for the time being, anyway...

Whenever I swim to the top of the world, it is there that those hardworking Arctic Chars do their stuff - mop bucket, hair curlers, pinny, headscarf, mop and a tin of Mr Sheen to make sure the igloos (and trade stations) are ship shape and Bristol fashion...

Let's zooommmm!

Sock Eye Salmon

Fish Posted: Mar 18th 2008

Hi Sock Eye! You gonna swim with us?? I'd be chuffed to mintballs if you would! :D

Mark the shark Posted: Mar 19th 2008

Wahoo! Let's sing some more:
The sky turns to a different shade of blue,
After the rain,
My mind turns to a different point of view,
After the rain,

Ooooh, my my,
Ooooh, my my,
Ooooh, my my,

I know,

Like the ocean needs the moon to take the tides away,
All we need's a little time to chase the blues away,
The sun is out and it feels like it's always gonna stay,
Let this last forever and turn tomorrow,

Into yesterday,

Now all the clouds have nothin' left to do,
After the rain,
And all those doubts have drifted out of you,
After the rain,

Ooooh, my my
Ooooh, my my
Ooooh, my my

I know,

Like the ocean needs the moon to take the tides away,
All we need's a little time to chase the blues away,
The sun is out and it feels like it's always gonna stay,
Let this last forever and turn tomorrow,

Into yesterday,

Like the ocean needs the moon to take the tides away,
All we need's a little time to chase the blues away,
The sun is out and it feels like it's always gonna stay,
Let this last forever and turn tomorrow,

gromitlove Posted: Mar 19th 2008

Those are nice lyrics-- how can I find the tune?

Fish Posted: Mar 19th 2008

Wow, Sharkie - you know all the words to the song! I can never understand sung words. I end up having to look up the lyrics. That has gotten a wee bit easier, since more and more songs lyrics can be found online. Are you out of school now, or do you have classes on Thursday?

Mark the shark Posted: Mar 20th 2008

I had a class today but I'm off tomorrow and Monday!:D

Fish Posted: Mar 21st 2008

Lucky!:D

Mark the shark Posted: Mar 21st 2008

Heya Fish!;)

Fish Posted: Mar 21st 2008

Hi, Sharkie!:) Is it night where you are?

Mark the shark Posted: Mar 21st 2008

Yep! I'm on Shaun the Sheep at the moment. Do you have an account there? if not, I'll stay here.;)

Fish Posted: Mar 21st 2008

I don't have...at least I don't THINK I do. But you must be gone by now. I had to leave to go to church.

Mark the shark Posted: Mar 22nd 2008

Damn. Well, you must have because you have one here. 'Cause all you have to do is sign in as if you were signing in here and then but then you'll get some email with a code and then you retype that code in the Shaun the Sheep valiation bit and then you're fine. Well, if I've explained it well. ;)
Besides, Sock Eye hasn't been around for a while.:O

Fish Posted: Mar 22nd 2008

Yeah...you're right, Sharkie - I DO have an account on the STS site!:D

Mark the shark Posted: Mar 23rd 2008

Wanna talk there? I'll give you a budding request!;)
