Aardman backs new government animation centre
Wednesday 20 Feb 2008 - 10:07
The Department for Media, Culture and Sport is set to publish the Creative Economies Programme, its plan for developing Britain's creative industries. The plan will be published on Friday (February 22), and launched by Margaret Hodge.
It has been reported that the initiative will include a new animation education centre in the South West, to be backed by Aardman Animations, as well as the South West Regional Development Forum.
Other proposals include the establishment of a Couture Academy, backed by Jasper Conran, as well as programmes to cultivate music and performing talent. The CEP is also likely to include more detailed plans for the Creative Capital conference, a cultural policymaking forum which is slated to become an annual event, and whose inaugural event is expected to take place later this year.
