Mark the shark Posted: May 28th 2008

I know it's a little rude, black (about my happy birthday song above), but it sure made him laugh! :D

black Posted: May 28th 2008

i dont think so.

Mark the shark Posted: May 28th 2008

It did. We're just a couple of boys that like the rude joke.

black Posted: May 28th 2008

im not going to sayy anything for a while.

Fish Posted: May 28th 2008

Thanks for the lovely birthday greeting, squigly!:D And thanks again to everyone who has wished me happy birthday - I REALLY appreciate it! :)

Today I took a plane ride across the country to Washington D.C. I will only be here for a few days, and will not have time to site see...BUT I am going to see one of Shakespeare's plays tomorrow!:) It is only the second play by Shakespeare that I've seen on stage. It will be "Antony and Cleopatra" by the Shakespeare Theatre Company. The first one was "As You Like It" at the Globe Theatre in London. :)

Fish Posted: May 30th 2008

Thanks, Josephine! It is great to read you again!:D
I was getting afraid you'd given up on us for good. Are you almost done with your church projects? I've missed you.

The play was wonderful! They had headphones I put on and I heard most of the dialogue very clearly. I was SO happy!!|-)

Tonight a friend said she would take me in to see the White House and other famous places in Washington DC. tomorrow. I have never seen any of it except on TV. I am so ecited I can't sleep!:D

Give Nutmeg Blue a hug and some doggy treats for me!:)

Chocachoc Posted: May 30th 2008

Hi! I haven't met most of you. All of your dogs are really nice. I'm not aloud a dog of my own. Bye.:D

squigly Posted: May 30th 2008

Hi chocachoc...welcome!

Ooh, Fish...a Shakespeare play onstage. That's two more than I've seen! teehee :D And lucky you they had headphones. Hope you enjoy the sights of the White House. I've never been to DC but I can imagine that it's quite a sight.

Mark the shark Posted: May 30th 2008

Any fishes around to swim? I've been ill all day. (I said how on "Let's Talk about Socks")

Josephine Posted: May 30th 2008

Ooooh, Fish, old pal! I've most certainly not given up on this, our beloved website or on any of my dear friends - including you! There has been so much going on for the past month or two that has limited my time on here but it's great to snatch more than a second to view the goss and the news regarding our friends & ...

The church stuff has not finished yet... but I'm happy that there is no time limit on it. You know, it's lovely working there because there is no hassle, no fuss - just peace (and a little mad humour here and there!) and plenty of tea and biccies. Nutmeg B is not yet cut out to be a church dog yet but there is still time.

Give plenty of belly rubs to Ralphie and a few doggy chocs for me...Nutmeg Blue woofs you to know that she really loves the ham bone treat and your warm hugs.

About the White House visit, Fish. What a fabulous opportunity! Like you, we see it in films and on the telly with programmes such as West Wing... but I wonder if they still do boxes of jelly beans with the Presidential Seal on it (or even mintballs). Just curious! >:-)

And a warm welcome to chocachoc!

Markie Sharkie, pal! Sorry to hear you have been ill all day. Hope you take it easy and get well soon!!!!!

Splassssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I thank you!

Sock Eye Salmon

Mark the shark Posted: May 30th 2008

Thanks Sock-Eye, old buddy! I'm feeling better, the sickness was hay fever coming back. Dang it, it always happens at the end of May. :-( I'm pleased your happy about your church stuff. ;) Fish went - to the White House? :OThe White House?! Wow! Fantastic! :D

squigly Posted: May 31st 2008

Welcome back sock-eye. We missed your presence on these threads. Glad you were able to pop in for a swim.

Sharkie, your hayfever sounds almost like the "vog-itis" that hit me a week ago. My nose was like a leaky faucet! Well! i think a cyber-swim will clear that up reaaalllll quick. Shall we? Fish, Sock-Eye, Sharkie....anyone else? SSSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAASSSSSHHHHHH!!!!!|-)

Fish Posted: May 31st 2008

I am back from Washington DC. I had a cracking good time!! I've attached a photo I took last night. I got to visit the Lincoln Memorial! :) I also saw the Vietnam War Memorial. I'd seen the traveling wall, but not the real one. Since it was just after Memorial Day there were lots of visitors. I also saw the Washington Momument and the National Cathedral. I'm tired but I am SO happy I got to see all of that!!|-)8)

squigly Posted: May 31st 2008

Wow, that's fantastic Fish! Thanks for posting the pic. I'm glad you got to see all those wonderful sights. I've never been but a lot of people have said that there is a lot to see in DC. Too bad there wasn't a traveling & exhibit there too!:-(

I just came back from a raku festival. Raku is a type or style of pottery. Each year there's a festival held on a beach and the public is invited to participate in the community kiln. We get to glaze pre-made pots and anxiously wait to see how they turn out (usually about an hour and a half later). With raku you never know what it's going to look like. This year I did 3 pots and I'm very pleased with all 3. Although now I smell like a fire pit! lol|-)

cinders1 Posted: Jun 1st 2008

wow fish im so pleased you had a great time, thanks for the pic

squigly you going to show us your materpeices? sounds like you need a bath like meg!!phheewww!!!!;):D

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 1st 2008

Wow! Good for you, Fish, pal!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D Er - Squigly, quick question. What's vog-itis? ;)

Fish Posted: Jun 1st 2008

Yes, squigly - take a picture of your pots for us...please?:)

Sharkie - squigly lives near a quasi-active volcano, which produces "vog"....as opposed to "fog" or "smog". The vog gave squigly a runny nose, etc...hence the new word "vog-itis"8)

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 1st 2008

Ah. Cool. Thanks Fish! 8)

squigly Posted: Jun 1st 2008

Sharkie, vog-itis is what I call what people get when the vog makes them feel sick (runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, scratchy throat, breathing problems etc.). No one's actually come up with an official word for it yet because the vog affects people in a lot of different ways and sometimes just aggravates other health problems like asthma.

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 1st 2008

Ah, right. Thank you, Squigly. Aggravates the health, but in different ways? Hmmm. Well, I know one thing about it. If it's anything like hay fever, it's gotta be hell! :)

squigly Posted: Jun 1st 2008

okay folks, by popular demand...here are a few of my raku pics (I glazed 3 and a friend did 2):

squigly Posted: Jun 1st 2008

oh, you can only post 1 pic at a time. I'll have to limit the number of pics then. here's another:

squigly Posted: Jun 1st 2008

friend did this one using a fern frond as a resist:

squigly Posted: Jun 1st 2008

wish i could post more, but this is the last pic showing all five bowls:

cinders1 Posted: Jun 2nd 2008

wow squigly your pots are brilliant!!! thankyou for letting us see your handy work, they look like ones you see in garden centres!!!! :)

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 2nd 2008

Wow! Great, Squigly! Well done! :D

conty Posted: Jun 2nd 2008

squigly yippee youll be sculpting soon!!! your pots look fab:D

squigly Posted: Jun 3rd 2008

thanks everyone. however, i only take credit for the glazing. the bowls were already made for us. i'm more into painting the pots with glazes than actually making the bowls.

conty i tried taking a ceramics class once and failed miserably. i couldn't get the hang of kneading the clay or using the pottery wheel to spin a bowl or vase. that's why i stick to painting. however, since you don't need to knead plastercine, that just may be the venue for me. one of these days....

cinders1 Posted: Jun 3rd 2008

squigly you done a great job of the glazing|-) im rubbish too at making clay models!! in fact im no good at painting either unless of coarse its a wall!!!!:O have you done many paintings?

Mark the shark Posted: Jun 3rd 2008

Go Squigly! Wahoo! :D

Fish Posted: Jun 3rd 2008
